The first episode of the new lease is #517 the last episode of the series is #1455. At two episodes a day the remainder of the series could be aired in approximately 92 weeks, considering there are weeks like the Anitra Ford episodes in which GSN does not have celebrity clearance as well as damaged, destroyed or otherwise unairable episodes.

Aside from early January 1978 episodes aired in March 2010, I have never had the opportunity to see MG78 or 79 episodes in their regular rotation.

I am sure however that I am engaged in wishful thinking, so does anyone know the number of MG episodes in the new lease?

This is only a guess on my part, but I think the reason is because of Allen Ludden not being as energetic later in 1979. His health was deteriorating even more as we headed into 1980 and maybe that was where the show had lost ratings.

Tom Kennedy, however, in my opinion, really had charisma and energy that it takes for a game show to be interesting and fun to watch. Allen Ludden probably lost that quality as we headed further into 1979.

Same reasoning may apply as to why Combs' Feud bombed on GSN in recent years. Ray Combs had less energy as the show progressed further into the 1990s, and the viewers found his humor so dry and gotten so lame. By the time September 1993 came around, he really wasn't himself at all. GSN's ratings for Combs' Feud were not that great by the time the network was closer to airing the 1994 episodes, and only aired the first 3 months of Ray Combs' final season as a result.

I think, IMO, it takes charisma, happiness, and energy from a host or a group of celebrities that attracts viewers to the show. Viewers probably want to watch a game show that really is fun to watch. Allen Ludden's condition, later in 1979, made the show less fun to watch, IMO.
