Film director Sydney Lumet, '12 Angry Men', 'Network', dies
Sidney Lumet, the award-winning director of such acclaimed films as Network, (1976), Serpico, (1973), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), The Verdict (1982) with Paul Newman and 12 Angry Men (1957), has died. He was 86. He died Saturday morning at his Manhattan home from lymphoma according to relatives and friends.

RIP, and Peace to his family. One of my favorites...I'm so sad to hear that he lost his fight with lymphoma. Network and 12 Angry Men are two of my all-time favorite films, period. We sure are losing an awful lot of the greats this year. 
BTW - Mr. Lumet had an indirect connection to the GS world, but a fairly significant one - as a teenager, he appeared with Arlene Francis on Broadway in a critically acclaimed, yet short-lived play called Journey To Jerusalem in October 1940, playing a young Jeshua (Jesus) to Arlene's Miriam (Mary). I've posted a fairly rare press pic from that play over on my Tumblr.
