I wouldn't be shocked to see General Hospital go next either. Especially considering how non-trustworthy Brian Frons is on this subject. This is the same guy who said AMC and OLTL were in no danger of being cancelled mere months before those were axed, and with that, it's been found out that they were trying to get other stuff to replace them since at least 2008.

You must be thinking of Another World, which was on SOAPnet regularly. ATWT only aired once. SOAPnet reruns was how I also got to enjoy AW. The guy that runs the DVD distribution says that they're going to work at getting ATWT and GL started for DVD collections and online streaming next year first, and then the other P&G soaps like Another World, Search for Tomorrow, and Edge of Night could follow in the same ways after that.

I've been really impressed with most of what DOOL's had to offer lately. So glad they decided to make a change in creative power there. It was desperately needed. The writing for a while late last year quickly became unbearable. There's actually been more realistic based storytelling in the past 3 weeks than most of what was told in the past year. John Black's framing/embezzlement storyline has basically been ripped from the headlines.

Yep..brain cramp...Going was on AW. See, told you I don't watch Daytime soaps too often !!

I used to get a kick out of " I CAN"T FEEL MY LEGS" Jack Black !! I seem to think they were booting off older DOL characters( and storylines) to get younger( hmmmm.....sounds like a network we know).....DOL can be fun and it definitely had great "older" characters. Glad to see they are back. Maybe I'll try to watch a bit more often.

Bumping this thread re: the DVD situation.

The DVD's are selling very well it seems. Fans can buy the sets over at soapclassics.com. Since the first ATWT set, we've had several more come out. A Christmas themed one for ATWT, also two sets each based on the Lily/Holden and Jack/Carly pairings. A Guiding Light 20-episode best of package is also available, as well as two more character themed sets.

And I heard that General Hospital has been renewed for at least one more season. Really surprises me, and while the show may be losing ratings, maybe the ratings this season are good enough to retain staying power.

I'd say, if we end up being down to just two soaps, I bet they would be The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful. I have a feeling The Young & The Restless will be the last remaining soap on the air, if only one were to remain.

I would agree with CardSharks8689 that "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" will most likely survive because CBS does not own them. The Bells own both of those soap operas. Days and GH are network owned. I'm surprised that "General Hospital" was renewed. I wouldn't be shocked if Days or GH does not make past 2014.

A friend of mine recommended that I watch South Korean Drama (with English subtitles,) and after watching a few episodes of their 'soap opera' dramas, I am now hooked! The subject matter, the stories, the action, and their all-out, top-notch scene designs make me wonder why I ever wasted my time watching our local, American soap opera shows in the first place. And for some reason, the 2 television stations airing the subtitled shows almost never interrupt their scheduled shows to run commercial ads! Instead, they show a few quick commercial ads immediately before the show begins, and then after it is over. I am now wondering why we have always been forced to have to watch commercial ads in the first place, and with constant interruption into the actual show that we try to watch on the television.
