Should Attena TV pick up game shows from the Sony library?

Do you think since GSN no longer runs many of these thanks to its leasing classics rule (except for the 2 Pyramids of $25K and $100K), that a new digital subchannell network called ATTENNA TV (I get it on Comcast Digital Cable channel 353 where I live, it's also on WGN 9 Chicago's 9.2 digital subchannel), which broadcasts classic TV shows and movies from the Sony/Columbia-Tristar Library, could get the rights possibly on late nights and/or weekends to broadcast these classic game shows from the Sony game show library?:

    Bob Eubanks Newlywed Game
    Jim Lange Dating Game
    The Joker's Wild
    Tic Tac Dough
    Jackpot!
    The Gong Show
The New Treasure Hunt/Treasure Hunt 1981
    The $1.98 Beauty Show

However, I' d let THIS TV (which is a digital subchannel network which reruns movies and some classic TV from the MGM library) wish they get the rights to rerun Classic Peter Marshall (and maybe 1980's John Davidson) Hollywood Squares.

That is an interesting topic you just came up with! We can even look at the brighter side here! It will air these shows like you would remember them. No logos at any corner and BEST OF ALL: They would even let the announcer speak and show the credits! I know you would agree to that! Have a great weekend!

And even show classic fee plugs when needed?

I didn't even mention the Sony owned Bullseye and Break the Bank 1976 (both were Barry/Enright classics).

Antenna TV would air any classic game shows with no problems at all! AND NO RERUN ABUSE OR SPEEDING CREDITS!

    And NO CRUNCHES!!!

One of the OTR stations was kind enough to air Groucho's You Bet Your Life a few years ago, and it was amazing to see the show pretty much unaltered, aside from a few local commercials between segments. Part of the charm is to see things like the credits, the plugs, and what not, without all the other junk (save for maybe a ubiquitous, *small* station ID bug in the corner).

    What does OTR stand for?

I was wondering if Antenna TV will get the rights to pick up the Reg Grundy Productions library of game shows:
    Sale Of The Century
    Scrabble
    Time Machine
    Hot Streak
    Scattergories
    Small Talk

Believe it or not, Wikipedia (usual caveats) has an article called List of programs broadcast by Antenna TV. The list shows no game shows on the current or planned schedules. Looks to be an old sitcom channel with some movies and kid shows tossed in. I wouldn't hold my breath on game shows turning up there. They seem completely outside the network's niche, much as TVLand has never broadcast game shows.

A more realistic possibility might be some of the old kid game shows from Nick GAS turning up on Hub. That network doesn't seem allergic to game shows, though it mostly serves as a product placement channel for Hasbro.

I'm just thinking of something though. DirecTV wouldn't want to compete with it's own channel GSN, so they probably won't be adding Antenna TV if they play a bunch of game shows. But again, both of those things suggested above aren't even rumoured yet.

the hub reminds me of the old family channel, i remember name that tune and other old game shows coming on the family channel in the afternoon! memories!

Yes, this is the topic started up on Antenna TV's Facebook page. People are asking, 'Why isn't GSN airing classic programs from the Chuck Barris, Jack Barry/Dan Enright libraries, anymore?' And some suggest maybe air a few of the classic game show gems mixed with the movies and sitcoms format. I don't see why not the new network can air just one classic game show, like on weekend nights or one show per day on weekdays. Make a nice mix.

Airing the original B/W “What’s My Line?” would be a great end to the half-hour sitcom classics/games block before the movies block.

I think what starwheel means is 'over-the-air' (OTA) station(s).

Some have said DirecTV’s not required to carry sub-channels such as Antenna TV being that it’s not required under FCC “Must-Carry” rules since it’s primarily an over-the-air network and carried on cable systems throughout the United States. For those who want to join Antenna TV’s conversation on Facebook, the page is, here.

Directv is not required to carry local stations at all. Believe it or not, there are some areas where locals are still not available on satellite. I am not so sure it's FCC law anymore that cable must carry them either. Either that or it isnt enforced on them. Our local cable operator has been in 2 lovers spats over local channels just this year. Threats were made that the signal would be yanked off the air but they worked something out at the last minute. However, I believe ABC was pulled off some cable outlet up North somewhere on either Cablevision or Time-Warner. Can't remember which.
