I have NEVER preferred using Oodles for sweepstakes and auctions. When I first joined GSN nearly two years ago, it was for solely for the 'Buy It Now' prizes, back when they were decent. How times have changed.
Earlier this year, I had around 100,000 Oodles in my account. I have not encountered anything of interest or practicality in the 'Buy It Now' category and feel as if I am just wasting my time by continuing to earn points and getting nothing in return. So I haven't done anything to earn any further points. I have no choice now but to relinquish my points day-by-day on sweepstakes in order to get out of this dead end place. As of this writing, I am down to 32,000 Oodles in my account. Once my balance nears the zero mark, I will call it quits. May 27th is the day I speculate will be my last. The countdown has begun.
I would rather have more buy -it-now prizes
Buy it now all the way. Sweepstakes and auctions suck. I earn my oodles so that I can pick our prizes or it gives me a goal to work towards

BUY IT NOW
I liked how they did the gift cards over the holidays. If they did that once a week or even once a month, I would be happy. Also, they should display the prizes even if they aren't available, that way we can at least see what we should save up for if it's a restocked item.
Please GSN enough with the whoopie cushions and dumbville brains. If you want cheap prizes for the masses here are some suggestions - big bag of m&m's ($5-$6), OPI finger nail polish ($8), box of gel pens ($4), gardening gloves ($6), Starbucks coffee beans ($10). The package of Mrs. Fields cookies - great idea, they are very good. Tea infuser - haven't gotten this one but people seem to like it, the burt bees hand pampering kit - Awesome kit!! Bring us things we can use. Please

Buy it now. Hands down. I keep trying to enter those "Bid For It" and always get beat, even though I bet the farm every time. And I do not have a low total of Oodles either.
Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21
I prefer the sweepstakes option by far! It is great way for players who don't have many Oodles to have a chance to win a prize against people who have been here for ages! It's a way for even the little players to have something to show for their long-spent time on the site! I love sweepstakes so much, I just invested my 300k Oodles in a sweepstakes, lost, and am happy to spend the next few years winning my Oodles back just to enter another exciting and thrilling chance to win!
I hope you know I am NOT being serious. Just watch GSN use this ridiculous statement as the basis for continuing these crappy sweepstakes.
Good topic, Squishmar. GSN is probably going to come back with something like, "the majority of our users prefer sweepstakes, but we will try more buy it now prizes in the future." Translates to, "Just leave GSN now since nothing it going to change."
Funny thing with the play to win items is that people use bots to get inhumanly scores on the games, meaning they win every time. Leaving that option is blasphemy as all it does is encourage cheating.
Holy2360 - you had me going, LOL
I have never entered a sweepstakes and I have never tried a bid for it. Where are you getting your information from GSN? Who are these people who like the sweepstakes? upper management perhaps?
Buy It Now!!!
I did a quick tally.
Buy It Now = 31
Sweeps/Auctions/Bid For It = 0
I guess the Oodles team must have used some other system to come up with their numbers.![]()
Thanks for doing that tally, Frobby! Everybody.... Tell your friends on the site to come over here and register their opinion! The more responses the better! Because that letter they sent was really insulting to all of our intelligence.
Yeah... I was thinking of giving them the benefit of the doubt... maybe their information is outdated. Well, we can now rectify that and pretty decisively state that if this number represents a certain percentage of their total players, then their info needs to be updated!
I posted this on the other thread that I'm sure a lot of you subscribe to, so forgive the duplicate post if you read it, but I'd like to repeat it here... because it really makes sense:
"Something else just occurred to me about the letter the Oodles Team sent... this line: "We also heard complaints that items in the store would always be sold out," Well, wouldn't that show them that the buy-it-now prizes were indeed, popular, coveted and desired? Their solution was to not have them available EVER? How does that make sense? It's like a store owner saying, "I'm always getting complaints that we never have any soft drinks in stock... so I'm just gonna quit carrying them altogether." Wouldn't the smart store owner start ordering MORE soft drinks?"
So, right there, in their own letter, they admit basically, that they are just interpreting things badly. "Oh, the buy-it-now prizes are so in demand that we can't keep them in stock? Well then, let's cut back on them, then!" Pretty lame.
And Holy2360.... you had me going, too! LOL. I also love the idea of entering an auction (or sweepstakes), which cost oodles to enter, when the prize is MORE OODLES. Great. So you can then, what? Have more oodles to enter more sweepstakes to win more oodles? Can anybody say 'hamster wheel'? Or 'vicious cycle'? LOL
So, Angel.... can you pass this thread (or at least the bottom-line results of the poll--after the week is over) on to the "Oodles Team" so maybe they can re-think their statement about "Most oodlers have ALWAYS preferred sweepstakes." This would definitely seem to suggest differently.![]()
Definitely more buy-it-now prizes, at least you know you'll work for something you really want. There should be more variety with the buy-it-now prizes so there is something for everyone.
I vote for Buy it Now prizes, at least you get a prize that way. Thanks for finally thinking about what we want.
Well, GSN isn't actually thinking about what we want. That's why this thread was started... in response to a letter that insisted that they do know what we want: Sweepstakes and auctions. This thread has overwhelmingly shown that they are mistaken. I don't know how they'll dispute this much hard evidence that directly contradicts that.![]()
