I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Saints bounty scandal on this board (most likely because it doesn't have to do with hating on the Steelers). Anyways, I think the only solution to the scandal is to do what the NCAA does with programs that do such things: Suspend the team. There's nothing more humbling than a ban from playing for an entire year. We had a 31-team schedule from 99-01 in the NFL, and so I think having the stadium lay fallow and the fans keep their mouths shut for a year will do the trick.
Furthermore, as a Steelers fan, I think there's a difference between what Ryan Clark and James Harrison and Hines Ward did and what the Saints did. You would have certainly heard from the media if the those three put bounties on people's heads (in fact, with JH, it may have resulted in his ban from the league). IMO, anyone who wanted to pay or got paid should receive a lifetime ban from the NFL without appeal. Period. Sean Payton should receive a three-year ban, and Gregg Williams a five-year ban, both without pay.
And the Super Bowl trophy should be taken away because it will forever be tarnished not with poor officiating allegations, but essentially paid hitmen, which if it didn't happen on the football field, would be considered a felony punishable by decades in the can.
