Hate the new version and will not watch it ever again. I agree completely with the others that GSN is insulting its viewers at this point. I wrote about this at length on the GSN Schedule board in the most recent ratings thread and in my own thread, entitled "Sick of being treated like a dumb, horny seventh grader with a short attention span."

    GSN, grow up.

If you look at the schedule...Baggage, NG, Lust Triangle.....GSN truly is adolescent. The players on new Lingo aren't the same when it comes to the old game. With few exceptions, I don't think the IQ's of people on the new Lingo are too high, to be kind.

Recall in 2007, GSN tried to shove the bigoted Without Prejudice ? on the viewers. They have succeeded in a roundabout way. The gutter is overflowing on GSN.
Shame Lingo has been dumbed down . I don't even blame Engvall....just the way GSN is going.

A few complaints around here mean nothing, of course. Though Lingo is also getting some praise on these boards. Meanwhile, the show is a hit with the people who actually watch the network. On the latest published day Lingo copped four of GSN's top ten slots including number one. That was a pretty typical performance for the show. It's been all over the top ten since it debuted, despite the insane rerun abuse. I figure we'll get an announcement on a renewal pretty soon, depending on Engvall's availability. Could be a 65-ep order for the second season.

What some posters don't seem to get is that some of us LOVE the OLD Lingo and are pretty disappointed in the new show. Though Woolery did silly shows like Love Connection, he pretty much kept Lingo out of the gutter. I don't dislke Engvall, but the show has moments that seem to be directed to a certain demo.....a Junior High school male audience reading nudie magazines .If you like frequent sexual innuendo and pre-pubescent potty jokes, I'm sure you probably love the interaction between Engvall and some of the people who can't get a word 80 % of the time despite being given a clue . There was zero need to change that part of the format.

I would also state that Lingo is in the Top 10 of GSN shows multiple times because the rest of the schedule isn't very good. I guess about six month ago, 300's were o.k., not great. Seems the 300's are the new Watermark for GSN at this time. I also believe GSN projected MUCH higher numbers for Engvall. Seems 3 PM Lingo hour was doing JUST as well as Engvall's current numbers a few months ago. I truly wish the new Lingo was better. I watch, but it's a pale shell of the Woolery show. Welcome to the new GSN.....only a matter of time before they dig up Without Prejudice?.

Very, very sad new Lingo isn't that good. Think more than a few people who loved old Lingo feel that way. God knows I wrote multiple threads begging for Lingo's return. I can only speculate how much better Lingo would have been if they put back on a few years ago. When GSN wasn't going through their adolescent stage like they are now.

Would be nice if GSN cleaned up Lingo a bit.

I agree. Lingo doesn't have to be all that great when being compared to Love Triangle, Baggage, The Newlywed Game, Improvaganza, and classics undergoing major re-run abuse. Also, it comes on 5 or 6 times a day, which means it is already being re-run too much. I'm sure there are a lot of people (myself included) who only watch it because it's Lingo.

As I said earlier, GSN is trying to appeal to the bigger audience. They see how well shows like South Park with a lot of trashy humor are doing, and for some reason they believe it works with any kind of show. I do like Bill Engvall. I used to watch Blue Collar Comedy Tour. But that kind of humor doesn't belong on a "game" show like Lingo. Maybe GSN is trying to take the game out of Lingo so it can fit in with all the other shows they have now.

Thumbs down New Lingo is L-A-M-E-O

I do not like the new version of Lon go. I miss Shandi. GSN is losing viewers with these lame re-dos of shows.

I agree. The show seems like it's been dumbed WAY down (the little I've seen of it.) I try not to watch it out of protest over the loss of Chuck & Shandi. That show was great- nothing wrong with it. Nothing. And what happens? Cancel it.

Chuck never swore on Lingo. Bill Engvall said yesterday "This is one Hell of a game". Chuck would never say that though, that's just a saying, I guess. Also on there, the "B-bomb" was a correct word on there. I guess swear words are the trend in Television these days. The people don't care how they talk. I'm no fuddy-duddy either.

Also, some of the words on there, don't go with the clue, I don't think. I don't get it. I'll continue to watch the new Lingo but, I'm just pointing out some stuff. Bill's a good host to. He can be funny.

I'll watch the new Lingo whenever its on which is TOO much of an overkill. Soon, people might get tired of it due to rerun abuse and I will be laughing at GSN if the ratings actually do plummet one day, sorry to say.

This guy, Bill Engrvall is RUINING this show. He is unfunny and the canned laughter cheapens the whole situation.
He tries too hard. He just isn't naturally witty, fast or funny. Please get him off this show. It's painful to watch.

Wow, the contestants could have maybe won the 100 grand yesterday if they had put "douse" up there in time. I think 5 seconds were up there when they finished spelling douse, and it didn't even come up. They would have gotten the U and S and maybe could have figured out "dusty" since the Y was already at the end. At least Shandi was consistent at getting the words up there, even though she might not have been as fast as this one.

Personally, I don't get all the hate for the new Lingo. Yeah I guess I can understand people being turned off at the jokes, though I thought they were pretty funny and livened up the game, and this is coming from someone who HATES Blue Collar Comedy, I was more skeptical thne anyone about Bill hosting the show, but he really impressed me, so i'm glad they went in a different direction. The contestants so have been pretty nice, some of them are pretty good at playing the game, but admittedly there are others who take stupidity to a whole new level-The worst ones were those two police detectives, one of whom spelled C-A-K-E-S as K-A-K-E-S, seriously, how did that guy get a badge?

I don't mind the clues, they're pretty funny(loved the one describing Bill's act, it S-U-C-K-S indeed) and they can make the game either harder or easier, the bonus round is in some ways easier and harder, it's easier because you only need 5 words, it's tougher because you only get 1 bonus letter, so it does add an air of urgency.
