Million Dollar Money Drop - CANCELLED

    What an epic disaster!!

According to TVSeriesFinale.com, as of May 18, 2011, FOX has officially cancelled the "most epic game show ever" that premiered to television audiences in December 2010. After only a single season of 12 episodes, Million Dollar Money Drop has been axed and thrown to the curb. Further proof of this is that the show's page is no longer listed on FOX's website.

This is contrary to BuzzerBlog's earlier post a few months ago about how Million Dollar Money Drop was supposed to return this Summer with a new board game.

And to add insult to injury, Million Dollar Money Drop will continue airing in over 15 other countries around the world, except right here in the U.S.

What a pain. In an era of few trivia-based game shows, I actually looked forward to seeing Million Dollar Money Drop return. Instead, it looks like we're going to be stuck with NBC's Fear Factor and GSN's Moment of Truth instead. This is truly a disappointment of epic proportions!

I'm afraid there was no retrieving the reputation of this one...the whole world figured out how slow it was and the Post-It controversy will always kill a show that just debuted. Shame, as this one had the chance to go somewhere if handled properly...sigh, move on from this one as well.

I learned it by watching YouTube. But let me tell everyone reading this post something. The reason for the show's dismal ratings had nothing to do with the viewers watching but with the way the show was run. The format was one that had serious potential. So to see where the show went wrong, just watch a recorded episode from the Premiere week in December of 2010. Now, look at the contestants who competed on those episodes. Their brains were a hundred times smaller than their EGOS. Making viewers watch contestants who are all bossiness and no brains causes the audience to lose interest. In addition, notice how it took so much time to get through just a single question? It was WAY TOO LONG.

Bottom Line: The way the Million Dollar Money Drop was executed was the reason the show got cancelled.

Fox and Endemol, if either of you are reading this, then shame on both of you for being way to greedy, arrogant, and selfish not hiring smarter contestant.

COME ON, We are NOT that dumb, I REPEAT NOT THAT DUMB!!!!

I hope NBC is reading this b/c I am not gonna taking it anymore. I show like this, MINUS the execution, can put NBC back on the map.

The sad and irritating part of all of this is that FOX really put a ton of effort into promoting the show, so it makes you wonder why they'd cancel it so quickly.

Commercials promoting Million Dollar Money Drop started airing on FOX in November 2010, more than a month before it premiered.

Then we had a 2-Hour Premiere to kick off a Week-Long Event, much like with Deal or No Deal. Six of the 12 episodes of Million Dollar Money Drop aired during this one week alone.

Then FOX brings Million Dollar Money Drop back in January 2011 for the remaining 6 episodes of the season, but with a faster gameplay pace. And then to everyone's surprise, the delayed 1-Hour Season Finale of Money Drop comes with a LIVE play-along online game just like the U.K. version, even though it didn't work properly for those of us in the Eastern Time Zone.

After going through all the trouble of airing a weeklong event, speeding up the pace of the gameplay in the episodes and creating an online game to go along with the series, why all of a sudden cancel everything? It doesn't make much sense. FOX couldn't have expected the ratings to jump from 5 million viewers to 10 million viewers for the Season Finale just because of the online game, so why did they even bother to create it if they had no plans of continuing the series?

I think it's poor judgment on FOX's part. They did the same thing with Greed 11 years ago and here they go again repeating history.

Does FOX just not like game shows?

Greed, The Rich List, Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader, Don't Forget the Lyrics, Our Little Genius, Million Dollar Money Drop.

All of these FOX game shows didn't last longer than two seasons at the most.

I think FOX is going to garner the reputation of being the network that cancels game shows within a month after producing them.

Well, if Fox doesn't like them, why can't they give them to NBC? I still think NBC oughta invest in them b/c they can get back on the map and out of 4th place.

And Shame on Fox not only for messing up the onlin game for the East Coast, but cancelling the ****in show.

Wasn't a couple supposed to come back to the show due to a faulty question?
    I guess they can't now....

Sounds like 1 vs 100, it's hugely popular in several other countries and in the U.S it didn't last long and was tossed aside. 1 vs 100 did fine in the ratings, I'm not sure how Money Drop did though.

Now, I feel really bad for the couple that was to be given another chance. I hope that they could be compensated in some form. There is no excuse to get away with murder. I'm sure this couple will sue Fox and/or Endemol.

FOX axed Our Little Genius before it was to have premiered due to a rigging situation.

If only FOX acquired Minute to Win It from NBC for midseason after American Idol 2012 ends!

Has nothing to do with it. They'll keep running Idol, SYTYCD, and X in the Wed/Thurs slot.

Speaking of which, does anyone think GSN will take over the series and just rename it "The Money Drop" with a $50,000 or $100,000 top prize?
