Card Sharks (had it continued past October 23, 1981)
Q: What if the Jim Perry era of Card Sharks had continued past October 23, 1981? Would champion Victoria Siebert have been only the 2nd player to conquer the Money Cards? Would Bob Eubanks have taken over so that Jim Perry could do Sale of the Century?
A: NBC has picked up Card Sharks for a 4th season set to begin on September 11, 1982. First, Season 3 has to be finished off. That's what this fanfic is for. It's for fans of Card Sharks to post what they think would've happened if NBC decided not to cancel Card Sharks in 1981.
We're going to pick up right where we left off with new champion Victoria Siebert about to face another challenger. As for that challenger, I've got that covered. Her challenger will be Herbert Stempel, a contestant on the original Twenty-One in 1957 looking to redeem himself after that heart-breaking (and rigged) loss to Charles Van Doren.
If you have any suggestions for future contestants, feel free to post. Each season will last approx. 220 episodes. Season 3 is set to end with the June 30, 1982 episode.
Let the Card Shark-ery begin! This will be done like athleticsfan08's fanfics, in episode form.
Here's segment 1 of episode 865. (Airdate: 10/26/1981)
(Card Sharks 1978-1981 theme)
Gene Wood: An ace is a good card, so is a King. When they come in pairs, disaster they bring. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN CARD SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!! And here's the host of Card Sharks, JIM PERRY!
Jim Perry: Thank you, Gene. Welcome to Card Sharks! Nice to have you here with us today. Let's meet our new champion, Victoria Siebert! Victoria, weclome back! You won $5,200 on Friday and you were about to go for the Money Cards when we ran out of time. Ready for the Money Cards?
Victoria: Yes, I am!
Jim: Let's open up the board and get to the Money Cards!
(board opens)
Jim: Alright, Victoria. You know how this works, we're going to start you off with $200 of betting money and 3 cards. Next line, another $200 of betting money, 3 new cards. Minimum bets are $50 until you reach the top line, the Big Bet, at which point you must risk at least half your money. Let's give her $200, she's ready! We'll start you off with... an 8!
Victoria: Let's change it!
Jim: You can change the first card on any line if you so choose. You must play off it, however. The 8 now becomes... A 4!
Victoria: $200 Higher!
Jim: $200 Higher than a 4!
(ding)
Jim: She's right!, it's a King! You now have $400 and a King.
Victoria: $400 Lower!
Jim: $400, Lower!
(ding)
Jim: Right again! You have $800 now and a deuce!
Victoria: $800, Higher!
Jim: $800, Higher!
(ding)
Jim: It's an Ace! We move up the Ace, give you another $200, you now have $1,800.
Victoria: $1,800, Lower!
Jim: $1,800, Lower!
(ding)
Jim: It's a 5! $3,600 now and a 5!
Victoria: $3,600, Higher!
Jim: $3,600, Higher!
(buzz)
Jim: No, a 5 is not higher. You still have $3,600.
Victoria: All of it, Higher!
Jim: All of it, Higher!
(buzz)
Jim: 3 5's?! Could this be a repeat of The Terrible Threes? We'll move up the 5, it is a good card and you still have $3,600.
Victoria: All of it, Higher!
Jim: Give her $7,200, please!
(buzz)
(The Price Is Right Losing Horns)
Jim: No, it's the 4th 5 in a row. Only the 2nd time in 3 and a half years on Card Sharks that we've had 4 in a row pop up, that is incredible. Come over here, Victoria. You've won so far, a total of $8,800 in 2 days and you'll face off against a new opponent after this on Card Sharks!

Segment 2, Part 1 (Game 1 of Victoria Seibert vs. Herbert Stempel) will be in my next post (if no one posts said part before me). I'll remind you that this is a free-for-all, so feel free to post your suggestions/segments/ideas.

Jim Perry: Victoria Seibert is our champion and she's already won $8,800. While Lois and Janice deal out the cards, let's meet your next opponent.
(Card Sharks 1978-1981 contestant intro cue)
Jim: Herbert Stempel is your name. Herbert, can you tell us where you're from and what you do?
Herbert: Well Jim, I am from The Bronx, New York and I'm a police officer.
Jim: And you were here on NBC before if I'm not mistaken.
Herbert: Yes, I was. But I don't like to talk about it.
Jim: If it's that personal of a subject, we won't go into it. You did cut the cards backstage, right?
Herbert: Correct, Jim.
Jim: Okay. Our champion, Victoria will play the upper cards, the red cards. The lower cards, the blue cards belong to the challenger, Herbert. Question to you, Herbert. We asked 100 teachers: Have you ever caught your students cheating on a test? How many teachers said that they have caught their students cheating on tests?
Herbert: I'd say that number is pretty low because students know better than to cheat. I'd say about 16 out of 100 teachers have caught their students cheating.
Jim: Herbert says 16 out of 100 students have caught their students in the act of cheating. Victoria, Higher or Lower?
Victoria: I'd say that it's just a little higher.
Jim: Victoria says higher. The actual number of teachers who have caught their students cheating is: 22! It's just a little higher! Victoria, you have control of the cards! You start with:
3♦ - - - -
A 3!
Victoria: Higher!
Jim: Higher than the 3... (flips card)
3♦ K♣ - - -
A KING!
Victoria: Lower!
Jim: Lower than the King... (flips card)
3♦ K♣ 8♣ - -
An 8!
Victoria: Freeze it, Jim!
Jim: Victoria's freezing on the 8. As a result, her position is safe and Herbert can't play his cards. Question to you, Victoria. We asked 100 divorced men: Have you ever taken your ex-wife to the same place for your first and second honeymoons? How many divorced men said that they have?
Victoria: I'd say that it's a pretty high number. Around 80 out of 100.
Jim: 80 out of 100 divorced men say that they have taken their ex-wives to the same spot for their first and second honeymoons. Herbert, what do you say?
Herbert: If the honeymoons fail, so does the marriage. Higher, Jim.
Jim: Herbert says higher. The actual number of divorced men who say that they've taken their ex-wives to the exact same spot for both their honeymoons is: 98! It is higher! Herbert, you have control of the cards! You'll start with...
8♣ - - - -
An 8!
Herbert: Change it, Jim!
Jim: You can change the base card if you win the high-low toss up question, Herbert has exercised his right to do so. The 8 will become...
3♣ - - - -
A 3!
Herbert: Higher, Jim!
Jim: Higher than a 3... (flips card)
3♣ K♠ - - -
A King!
Herbert: Lower!
Jim: Lower than a King... (flips card)
3♣ K♠ 4♥ - -
Jim: A 4!
Herbert: Higher!
Jim: Higher than a 4... (flips card)
3♣ K♠ 4♥ Q♦ -
Jim: A QUEEN! You need 1 card for Game #1 and $100. What's it going to be, Herbert?
Herbert: Lower!
Jim: He's gonna try to run the board! Lower than a Queen for the first game of the match... (flips card)
3♣ K♠ 4♥ Q♦ 2♣
(Card Sharks 1978-1981 game win cue)
Jim: YES! Herbert, you've won one game and $100. But, remember, it takes 2 games to win here on Card Sharks and we'll play Game #2 after this!
(Card Sharks 1978-1981 theme)
(commercial break)
Well, Herb Stempel is well on his way to redeeming himself. He's won Game #1 and is 1 game away from the Money Cards. Game #2 is next. STAY TUNED!
