As you know on March 24, 1989 - The 1,578th and final episode of Sale of the Century aired here on NBC. Scrabble, whose own place on the NBC daytime schedule was given to Generations, moved to the time slot occupied by Sale. (In according to wikipedia)

Q: What if the Sale of the Century decided to stay on NBC?
A: NBC Decide to keep Sale of the Century in the schedule, so BET will start airing a new soap opera called Generations if this would have happened this show would become the 3rd cable soap opera to TV (the first 2 being Another Life (1981-1984; CBN (now ABC Family as of this date of this post) and The Caitlins (1983-1985; TBS), in addition NBC decided to put a new game show in which will be hosted by Howie Mandel (who played Dr. Wayne Fiscus on another NBC Show called St. Elsewhere) and will be titled Deal or No Deal slated to launch on Monday, March 27th, 1989 after the cancellation of Super Password (hosted by Bert Convy), regardless of outcome NBC rescinded the Noon Slot to all affiliates beginning March 27th after Deal Or No Deal refused to put the noon slot but decided to put at 9:30 AM.

Now for Sale of the Century, they are planning to reinstate the winners board as well as the celebrity faces to the fame game as well beginning Monday, so how this will turn out?

Back once again here on NBC with our returning champion, John Rambo, who has already won $17,609 in cash and prizes. Welcome back, John! Here to introduce our challengers is the lovely and talented Summer Bartholomew! Summer, take it away.

Jim: John, you have your work cut out for you here, because both of your challengers today have been on Jeopardy! We'll see how this one play out today. We'll start you off with 20 points. So Here Are The Ground Rules

1. We are still using the 1987-1989 Sale of the Century Theme
2. The Fame Game Board was reverted "famous faces" sub-game, where he/she got to choose randomly from a game board with nine squares featuring the faces of celebrities, mostly performers on the network's shows as for the center space instead of the 'home viewer' it will be a personality from a Local NBC Station that carries Sale of the Century

Here's Some Suggestions that we will see (to make it historically accurate): Jerry Springer (WLWT - Cincinnati), Dan O'Rourke (KPRC - Houston), Randy Shaw (KHQ - Spokane), Ron Magers (WMAQ - Chicago)

3. We are still playing the Winners Big Money Game in the Bonus Round

Now here's what to come later on

April or May 1989 - Winners Big Money Game will be gone and will be reverted back to the Winners Board in addition the Growing Jackpot will now start at $50,000 and increases $2,000 if not won until hit.

Late June/July 1989 - Theme Music will be changed to the Australian 1986-1988 Theme music by Jack Grimsley arranged by Alan Deak

September 1989 - New Changes will take place
1. A 30-second mid-show 'fast money' is introduced
2. A $20 bonus space is added to the 'fame game'
3. An audio question is introduced, the question relates to the sound clip/effect that is played to the contestants. In the 1990's, this is changed to a visual question, relating to a picture shown to contestants
4. Instant Cash will be replaced with Cash Cards (Rules same as the Australian Version, but still with a growing jackpot)
5. New Theme Music Re-recording by Tweed Harris will be used
