I've seen lots of videos deleted recently - They must really be cracking down on the content on YouTube. There are a lot of videos in my favorites that are no longer available - Not just Game Shows.

The Divine Secret (TM) of YouTube:
You won't get popular unless you get views.
You won't get views unless you post copyrighted content.
If you post copyrighted content, you might get caught.
If you do get caught, you won't get a vlog or original content up.
If you don't get caught, you'll have a lot of success, but you always have to look over your shoulder.
Truthfully, all you have to do is look to see if similar videos are up and are not muted or blocked. If one is available, chances are either no one's looking or the holder(s) are apathetic to them being posted.

I'll ask this again. I believe I asked it on the old board but....
Isn't that why the Private Video Option was created?
There was at least one user who closed his/her account this past weekend. Not just JackBauer###, but another user who has "gameshow" and "49" in his/her username. They probably closed their accounts in the wake of chadmosher1's and Rashad's suspended accounts. Though Chad did come back this past weekend as "thechadmosher" and did upload at least Wheel 2000. Just goes to show he's likely a die-hard fan of Wheel of Fortune. The other suspended user does vow to return to YouTube and upload more WOF videos but not give any evidence of its name in the link or in the tags.
Maybe a lot of the content on YouTube is comprised of shows that are still airing in first-run, and uploading such episodes cost them their YouTube accounts?
I had a game show episode uploaded for a while, but I only had it up for a limited time. I removed it at my own free will - and thank goodness I did.

Indeed. Not to mention people are going to find ways to share content (original, already-copyrighted, Creative Commons Licensed, or public domain) no matter what.
Not necessarily true. There are Youtube channels -- e.g., vlog channels and tutorial channels of various kinds -- that contain nothing but original content and get loads of views. I think the more accurate phraseology here is "You won't get views unless you post quality content that others want/like to see." (Not to mention word of mouth.)You won't get views unless you post copyrighted content.
I had a few episodes of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego up on my own channel. Youtube deleted the final parts of all of them ("The Map" round and the closing credits) initially. Then there was a nonsense claim from WMG for another part. Eventually I took them all down and reuploaded them to a Dailymotion account.
Yup this sucks. For a few days there were a few 1988-1989 episodes that were up. They're gone too. There are a few Goens and a few shopping episodes left, but by the end of the week, they'll be gone.
Yup, WoF and J! Are going to be extinct from YouTube forever. I just don't see them coming back. I think the G-T shows are next.

FM hasn't been as bad about their clips as Sony has been...not even close. If they did go there, I would expect it to be with newer eps, like Drew TPiR and Brady LMAD. I would be very surprised if they bothered with the thousands upon thousands of MG, PW, and B&W clips that are 30 or more years old. That would be a waste of their energy, since the actual airings of them are so limited anyway.

I barely post copyrighted material. I have one video that has content owned by someone else, and that was music in a video that I made. The video's just blocked in certain countries, like I believe Germany. Other than that, I'm clean.
Although I do have 358 views on a Jeopardy! clue from 2009. Still up.

I think I know why some Wheel of Fortune episodes still exist on YouTube, but some YouTube users were hit by at least one copyright strike with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
I remember viewing the Sony boards as early as the spring, and I do remember seeing a link to one of David Downs' uploaded episodes in a thread that was posted on such boards.
To whomever on the Sony boards posted a link to David Downs' YouTube episode on a message board, way to signal a red flag. I bet the boards' host, Sony, caught on to such users and probably flagged those videos for copyright claims.
Anyone who posts Wheel of Fortune episodes to YouTube, you are taking a big risk. Someone could post a link to such videos on the Sony boards, and they don't realize how much trouble they can get into with their uploading future.
Now, if TPIR episodes were uploaded to YouTube, and someone posted a link to any TPIR episodes, past or present, on the message boards at priceisright.com, that would be a huge no-no. That's probably why many TPIR episodes still exist on YouTube to this day. Maybe priceisright.com has a rule against posting links to pirated TPIR episodes, perhaps?

There are many TPiR episodes up now and they've been up for years. I think they obviously have to know they're there at this point.
Yeah, there used to be a channel that had the entire series of The Golden Girls, which was up for about 3 years. It's gone now, but this isn't really a big loss since the entire series is out on DVD (unless you're a fan who can't afford all of the DVD's and can't stand Hallmark's edits of the show) and cable reruns are still aplenty. But it's an example of one of the non-game show examples that I noticed first around that time. Of course at this point, some of the episodes are back up on other channels. Same with some J! and WoF episodes even.
I think one of the biggest rules of copyright is the act of "fair use", which states simply that if you use it for non-commercial purposes, or does not compete for the business, then, it can be used. One of the reasons why so much copyrighted content is available on the 'Tube is probably because of this. I've uploaded several videos that used copyrighted music and video clips, but my page is still up. The reason? Probably because the content I have hasn't been seen for ages.
For example, I have video of a local television broadcast from 1993 during the Superstorm. Although it is a television show, the station (WPXI) didn't even question its presence. Why? Well, it isn't competing with a commercial product, and it's not really the entire broadcast (the former being 1,000x more important than the latter IMO) so it stays up there. I've put slideshows with music up that I didn't ask to use, and it's been there....in fact, I have 349 videos on YouTube, and never one strike against me. So, it's a matter of knowing what will get you caught more than if you break the concept of "copyright".

I don't get copyright infringement by Sony for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but others did, like rashad1428 and Chad Mosher's first account.
