Traditionally on July 4th we all get together at one of the families homes & have a BBQ together. Foods include chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers down on the grill. Then everyone contributes bringing many favorite side dishes traditional or non-traditional. Some of those being one Mom used to make that we all love, her homemade Dutch or perhaps German Potato Salad! No matter which one we must have potato salad!
Then those home made bake beans the best being Mom's favorite again baked Lima beans with crispy bacon all through it and on top! Add macaroni salad & corn on the cob done on that grill! My holiday meal not complete if my daughter-in-law does not make her homemade baked mac-n-cheese! Add chips & munchies, pickle/olives & veggie trays, and cold drinks for children and adults! Top it off with dessert of watermelon for me! Not red white and blue but brownies for the children and those that are always kids at heart! Top them with whipped cream and add red and blue sprinkles for the 4th of course!
Don't forget the most important part of the day! Family time! Just being together! Swimming in the family pool, game times for the children & even horseshoes for the adults! Top it off in the evening by going together to our cities Fourth of July Fireworks Display where there are musical guest and local celebrities such as the mayor! Then time to go home & rest & upload all our photos to facebook for all to see and enjoy as we enjoyed our day together! Happy 4th stay safe everyone!

can only be two things to eat on the forth of july:
BBQ ribs and Hamburgers( on occasion a hot dog or two does get slipped in)
we haven't had a 4th of july thing since my parents died back in 95/96.
but those are the best thing we eat.
now the fifth of july is when you go out on your bike and look for th dud of the firecrackers before the street crews clean them up

Along with traditional 4th of July barbecue foods, ribs, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, polish and Italian sausage, side dishes and deserts. My Dear Momaseta' came up with an Italian twist to the common cheese burger. Instead of just placing a slice of cheese on top of a hamburger. She make her burgers, with an assortment of cheeses, blue, parmesan, mozzarella and/or provolone stuffed inside of them. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good they were. They were always a huge hit with us cheese-o-holics and became a tradition at our family barbecues.
