I agree with PinksMinion, this matter urgently needs to be looked in to. It's very unfair to the players that actually earn their high scores! I can barely get 20,000 myself. It's too unlikely for a player to get 28,000, much less 34,000! If these people that continue to somehow hack the game are not dealt with, I would guess that other players that play fair will get annoyed and begin to quit playing the game! This is very important GSN!

Well I just PM'd the guy in question and asked him if there was a glitch in the game. Maybe there's a way to stop the clock? Who knows. We'll see if he gets my message and/or answers me back.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with the version of adobe flash player? Hmm

bump... just like most topics in here that require investigation... nothing has been done... not even any sort of update. it's like why bother? sent the emails to help like angel said to do... as did several others... and no reply. weeks and weeks and weeks pass and no response. sorry but help@gsn.com is not particularly helpful.

  5. #20
just to confirm how unhelpful help@gsn.com is... i sent another email with the body of the first one (with the "ticket number") included as a follow up... and i got the exact same response i did the first time. automated thanks for my submission and if we don't hear from you again have fun playing.

you know that scene in that movie "A Christmas Story" where the kid buys Ovaltine and tunes into the radio for months on end to get Little Orphan Annie's secret exclusive message that turns out to be "Drink more Ovaltine" and he gets all pissed? That's basically what help@gsn.com is doing. A whole lot of nothing. Sucks.

I agree with this entire post. No one can get that high of a score fairly in this game. I am pretty good at it, but I hardly ever get above 15000.

as long as the cheating continues so will this thread ... BUMP

GSN PLEASE STOP THE PLAYERS MANIPULATING CRAP SOFTWARE TO SCORE OVER 30,000 points.

I think the sad truth is that as long as GSN has an Oodles system that can lead to real-life monetary gains, they will be victim to hackers who place themselves atop the leaderboard each day. The other sad truth is that I doubt GSN wants to expend the resources to fight a battle with them. I definitely appreciate your fight PinksMinion. I fight each day to top 18k, and can't fathom how anyone could get 25k, let alone 30k or above. It's obvious there's cheating going on. I just want the two-player version of Lingo back.

    Habendum...

Read my initial post where I post a lot of numbers to back up my general sentiment. Basically... 25K is not out of reach... although it's a very very good score... I've played hundreds of games and I've scored over 25K maybe three times... According to my calculations (that sounded nerdy but I digress) I estimate that a "perfect game" (every single word guessed with perfect speed on the second guess) would yield about 28K. This scenerio is highly unlikely but gives a good idea of a reasonable score. So... scores in the range of 23, 24, 25, even 26 on a daily basis at the top of the leaderboards are reasonable because with enough practice and good selection of starting words, typing skills, and a bit of luck, these scores can be achieved. However, to score in the 27, 28 and above range, more and more words would have to be guessed cold, a scenario which is so unlikely.. that certain players are doing it on a daily basis... (note they usually come out of nowhere with a new name and then disappear after a bit) shows that the game is being cheated. And it sucks. And help@gsn.com does nothing to help besides send back automated responses no matter how many follow ups to the same ticket numbers are sent in. And angel only refers us to them. So basically nothing is being done that we can discern (perhaps something behind the scenes?) which is frustrating.

Yes, I had read your initial post. And it's clear that the frequency of those who get 25k-ish is fairly consistent, so I know that it's not out of reach. I was just trying to add to your sentiment that the 30k-plus scores are ridiculous.

And on your mention of the oh-so-helpful ways of "help"@gsn.com, I'm well aware. I had a problem that would have been really easy for them to deal with, but they just kept sending me the same formulaic responses that didn't help me out at all. Anyway, if I had to choose between GSN fighting the cheaters and them working to build a new two player version of Lingo, I'd take the latter.

Habendum... I agree. A 2 player game is really ideal because cheating is exposed to opponents quickly. "harney1987" and co (who just appeared out of nowhere with 35,000 points two days in a row) can have the single player leaderboards (sad as what they're doing is...) and everyone else can enjoy lingo like we used to. of course that means gsn would have to listen and based on the results of this thread it doesn't appear as if they are. even angel has seemingly abandoned the cause even tho she's not necessarily responsible for anything more than passing it on to the ghosts of help@gsn.com. blah blah blah bump.

Angry New lingo game makes a fool out of gsn!!! Come on angel step up!!!!!!

um has anyone noticed that harney1987 has scored EXACTLY 35,000 points the past three days in a row?

First of all... see my post regarding lingo high scores to know why this score is not even close to being realistic without cheating... I proved it mathematically so no need to cover that.

Yet, the past several days harney1987 (a player that appeared out of nowhere to begin with when toofast4u or whatever other alias this person is using disappeared) has scored exactly 35,000 points. The odds of scoring exactly the same impossible score several days in a row... ??? ? ??? ? !!! ?! ?!! ???! ?! ?! ?!

Enough already. Angel, I appreciate you and that you forward to the abuse department... but help@gsn.com does nothing but reply with generic emails regardless of how many follow ups are sent to the same ticket number. So this continues. This game should be an anchor of the online component of gsn... yet rather it serves to discourage and frustrate fair players and expose the laxity of security of the games. Perhaps something is being done behind the scenes (covering myself just in case) but to my and everyone elses knowledge... nothing is being done. The game needs to be made more secure such that it can't be manipulated beyond feasible scores. please do something more than forward or recommend help@gsn.com. it's not helping in the face of a proven issue!

    Hi,

I've moved your post to this thread, since it's the thread I pass on to Fraud & Abuse.

If a player disappears that means they've probably been banned, most likely based on reports sent to help@gsn.com. If a new player shows up right away getting the same scores, they've probably created a new account and will be banned too.

Help is more a clearing house for emails. Every email is filtered through them, much like a post man. You get an automated reply back so you know your email was received, but you're not going to get a personal response from them regarding cheat reports. Their job is to get the email to the proper people or department.

I pass this thread along on a weekly basis (in fact, just did a couple days ago again). They are aware of the concerns and I'm sure they're being looked in to. I know a lot of people are banned every week for cheating, so the emails are being read.
Have account questions or concerns? Write: help@gsn.com

Thanks Angel. It's good to know action is being taken against the cheaters. Although I still wonder how these people can cheat in this game. I feel that something should be done to the game itself to prevent cheaters from manipulating the game like they have been. Three consecutive days of exactly 35,000 points by the same user, that is ridiculous. At least something is being done about this. Again, thank you.
