    thanks angel...

as much i have been vocal in my complaints about this issue, i would like to also recognize your efforts to amend the situation. i'm sure it's tough being the frontman for stuff like this and you probably receive quite a bit of flack that isn't warranted. so thanks again and hopefully as doughboy wrote... whatever hole in the games' security that is being taken advantage of will be patched rather than an endless banning of cheaters that continue to reincarnate themselves!

Banning the cheaters doesn't cure the problem, it only puts a band-aid on it. And one that keeps falling off at that. If hackers can do that, I wonder if they can get to our personal information as well. They obviously have access beyond what the average player has....

Also, (from my past experience with cheaters) GSN doesn't delete the bogus scores from the weekly and monthly leaderboards which is really, really frustrating. These trumped-up scores knock legitimate players down several notches and cost them oodles. And, if these players have been banned, then their accounts have been closed, so where do those oodles go to? Closed accounts? It's just not fair to real, honest players. If they've deemed a score dishonest (and they have if they've banned the player because of it) why keep it up on the leaderboard?

    Very frustrating.

And yes, Pinks, Angel is indeed an angel!

WOW JUST MINUTES AGO HARNEY1987 POSTED 35,000... EXACTLY... POINTS FOR THE ... DRUM ROLL PLEASE... FOURTH DAY IN A ROW. IMAGINE THAT? FOUR IMPOSSIBLE SCORES (SEE MY MATHEMATICAL PROOF OF WHY IT'S NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT SOME SORT OF FRAUD) FOUR DAYS IN A ROW ALL ...

    EXACTLY THE SAME!

HARNEY1987 it's players like you that ruin it for everyone else. GO AWAY!

ANGEL REPORTED THIS THREAD SO THANKS AGAIN BUT EVERYONE PLEASE SEND YOUR COMPLAINTS TO HELP@GSN.COM THIS ABUSE IS ABSURD... THEY JUST NEED TO KNOW FROM MANY PEOPLE...

Harney1987 scores 35,000 points exactly in lingo for the 5th day straight and GSN...

Still does nothing. See the post "lingo high scores" for an explaination of why this score isn't feasible without cheating and what the odds of scoring the exact same score every day in a game like lingo is...

I'm not going to relent in my pursuit to get this cheater removed and the game fixed so it's a fair fight. In the meantime...

Harney1987 (one of just several alias' no doubt) ... Get a life! Youre a sad sad person.

Ha, I just scored over 18000 for the first time ever and was coming here to look for tips on how to get an even better score. 35000 seemed pretty darn impossible to me, and so I see that it is.

  6. #36
I think we should all write to GSN and not ask them to investigate... just ask them to explain to us how a score like that is possible... using Pinks' proof as proof.

Simply say, "According to my calculations," (I kind of like saying that... never have before! LOL) "a score of 35,000 is impossible to get. I'd love to try for that kind of score. Can you tell me how it was achieved?" Gosh, golly, tee-hee, etc....You get what I mean.

This situation is ridiculous. They should at least lower the scoring cap if it turns out that there's no "glitch" that is resulting in these high scores. Glitches are fair game... but, of course, everyone should be let in on them to even the playing field.

  7. #37
and it continues... harney1987 exactly 35,000 points once again for the 6th day straight. GSN HELLO DO SOMETHING LINGO IS BEING CHEATED EVERY DAY NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY A CHEATED COMPETITION!!!

  8. #38
Yeah some people are most likely cheating, they have been since the beginning of the leaderboard games, but you hardly gave a mathematical proof. Your whole 'proof' relies on the assumption that 4 seconds elapse between words. The flash animation runs at different speeds on different computers. For example, Suds is much easier on a slow computer. I would get in the 9,000's on my laptop, but on my 10+ year old desktop, I'd get 13,000's minimum. So maybe on some people's computer only 2 seconds elapse between words. Then they could get twice the amounts listed in your 'proof'. Makes the high scores look a lot more plausible. It's also likely that GSN set 35,000 as a maximum score.

  9. #39
chtiger... if you read my post more carefully you will notice that even if 2 seconds elapses between words this score is still not feasible unless 8-10 words are guessed on the first try. that's not plausible.

  10. #40
Well, I've thought about it and I'm sure chtiger is right about there being a 35,000 cap on the high score. So that answers the question of why the rounded-off top scores. The top scorer knows this and stops when they reach that amount. So the question is if that score is even possible.... Pinks, it may be possible that this person (or people) DO wait for games where they guess multiple words on the first try. I mean, we know they use the same words over again and if you are willing to just discard games as soon as you haven't guessed correctly on the first try more than, say three times... well, you theoretically could do that. Play hundreds of games and wait until you get that perfect one where you've hit on the right combination of words that you know right away.

I know that that was a key component to how I started always landing on the top 10 (and usually top 4 or 5) of the leaderboard of my favourite game (Mahjongg Alchemy)... There are five levels to that game. If, after the first or second level, I knew I couldn't achieve a top scoring game, I'd discard it and try again. I'm sure that's what people do with the Wheel of Fortune game too. You need the right combination of a large puzzle and large dollar amounts on your spins. If you don't have one of those elements from the start, and your goal is to make the top of the board, then get rid of that game and start another. There is a certain amount of patience and luck on ALL of the games along with the skill and knowledge of the game. Just something to maybe ponder....

appreciate that squishmar... but the odds of doing that every day make it statistically impossible. too tired to explain all the math but trust me this person scoring 35,000 every day is cheating and also making fun of the gsn fraud department for not removing them.

Although given that a 35000 score is being posted at 12:16am, it's not likely that someone's discarding hundreds of games. Something's dodgy for sure, but I'll have to trust that GSN is looking into it.

  13. #43
Harney1987 is still at it. I'm getting gypped out of oodles every day I play. It's really, really annoying.

  14. #44
it's not just harney... jayapradha and drose1990 are also scoring unrealistic scores always on the first shot as well. this person(or people... but very likely a reincarnate alias/multiple alias') has been cheating for a long time now. GSN doesn't do anything. the situation sucks. seriously... my proof in a nutshell shows that because you have a scoring time bonus for each word, based on a "perfect typing" situation (490+/500)... you can estimate how many words it's possible to get in the bonus round. THESE SCORES ALL INDICATE THAT THOSE PLAYERS ARE GUESSING SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 10 WORDS ON THE FIRST TRY... NOT LIKE THE FIRST TRY AFTER THEIR INITIAL WORD... JUST OUTRIGHT.

COME ON GSN PLEASE REMOVE THESE CHEATERS AND RESTORE A FAIR LINGO LADDER. BETTER YET, FIX THE GAME TO CORRECT WHATEVER LOOPHOLE THEY HAVE DISCOVERED. YOURE PROGRAMMERS KNOW WHAT SCORES ARE FEASIBLE AND IT'S VERY OBVIOUS TO ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN AND A FEW CALCULATIONS THAT THEIR SCORES ARE NOT!!!

  15. #45
Pinks, I understand the frustration, but can you please keep it down? I think the constant whining (don't hate me for saying that) will only make GSN ignore us even more, especially with ALL CAPS. Just my opinion.
