Ads DURING lingo gameplay (vs before/after)

Can you please look into having the ads removed DURING gameplay for lingo.

Please hear me out:

I understand the need for ads. Ads are a necessary nuisance... And I can understand putting them BEFORE and AFTER. But seriously... the ads are not only a visual distraction (yes I kno you can minimize the window) ... but the main problem is that since MULTIPLE ads run during a SINGLE game... the ads load WHILE the game is being played... cause drag and problems with gameplay. It's actually very very annoying mainly because it causes the game to drag while the timer continues to run sometimes... so in fact it can be a obstacle to scoring your absolute best. It seems only reasonable that perhaps ads might be disabled while the game is in session. After all... while one is playing thinking of the words are marketers really banking on them stopping the game to look at the ad??? That should be for before the game... a la a TV commercial. I get it... even Youtube is infested with ads BEFORE videos. But when it runs during gameplay and intereferes with it substantially I think it's a no brainer!

Agreed. I have the same problem too and I hate it when I'm typing a word and because an ad is loading, the letter(s) I typed during the ad's loading time don't show up because of the loading ad. I have to re-type the word and this costs precious time. Sometimes it prevents me from getting a better score. I understand why this place has ads, but I don't think it needs ads DURING gameplay. That just slows things down.

As mentioned, please look into this problem.

GSN knows all too well about the complaints of the ads, it's been happening for a long time and they have been emailed by numerous members on here and yet nothing has been done about it. I understand about having ads but when the game starts there should be no ads whatsoever. I play on other gaming sites where you watch an ad before the game starts and then once it does there are no ads. GSN could do this if they wanted to.

bump... emailed help but no results. Angel could you please pass this thread on personally? I think it's a no brainer. Ads yes. Ads during gameplay that mess up the timer and interefere with game play because MULTIPLE ADS load DURING a SINGLE game.... NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Sure, if the ads didn't interefere with the games timing and create very annoying drag etc... then sure leave them because you can resize the window so you don't see them. BUT EVERYONE AGREES IT MESSES UP THE GAME! COME ON ITS A WASTE OF TIME TO PLAY A GAME THAT IS FLAWED DUE TO POOR PROGRAMMING! sorry for the rant. it's just terribly annoying and a simple fix. thanks! we'll watch them before! no problem. make us sit a FULL MINUTE and waste our time that way. but not during the game. thanks!

Agreed. I sent Help an email as well, but with no reply from them. Please don't tell me we're being ignored for their own pleasure. That's not how it's supposed to work. I mean, we all have a voice, right?

And just so you know, if this problem is not resolved very soon, I might just quit playing this game because of these ads that appear during gameplay. That's right, one of your newest members will just leave if this problem isn't fixed soon. I hate having a chance at beating my best score go down the drain because a loading ad prevented me from typing in all the letters in the order I wanted. I have to "backspace" and re-type the word again and that costs precious time. Just a few minutes ago, I would've beaten my best Lingo score ever if it weren't for these pesky loading ads. Seriously, don't ignore us, do something about this problem!

Probably not DoughBoy...

However... they're really shooting themselves in the foot with this. The ads cause unmistakeable problems with gameplay which affect higher scoring players which are the players that play the most and thereby support gsn the most...

Many of the other games run ads before and/or after the game itself... why lingo.. which is super time sensitive and accuracy based... insists on running ads while players are supposed to be concentrating on the game... is beyond comprehension.

What is even worse is despite this thread, and other numerous private complaints... nobody has received any sort of response other than a generic one. I'd like to give gsn the benefit of the doubt and surmise that their help department is overloaded or considers this a low priority.. but then again... ... ... ...

Hate to keep complaining... but surely a response... even a "that's how it's going to be deal with it" would be more appreciated than the current seemingly indefinate indifference to this issue... :/

Here's a new one: a paint ad appeared IN FRONT OF my word box. That's right, it popped up in the way of my word box and blocked my view. At least I could X out of the ad and at least it happened near the end of my game (which wasn't my best game by the way). However, if this thing appears when I'm on a roll and it costs me a shot at a higher score, I will be very angry. If this isn't a high priority for the help team, then I don't know what is.

If the ads bother you so much, have you considered looking to your browser as a solution? I have recently downloaded Firefox Mozilla, which has the option of adding many helpful Ad-ons. Two add-ons that I cannot surf the 'net without are Ad-Block Plus (makes all the ads invisible) and Ghostery (stops trackers from violating one's privacy). I have had a highly pleasant time playing games and browsing the internet since making this change.

It doesn't matter if you have Firefox....Firefox blocks [ pop up ads] not [flash ads] that runs while we are playing a game...Its really annoying when you trying to play your games....

I do understand the purpose of advertising ads on game sites but why must we suffer when we are playing our games....I have emailed help@gsn.com about this issue from the time that I join this site (January 2011]...Yes, they tell you that your emails have been forwarded to the Advertistment/Ads Department to look in to this......No remedy has been fixed...

By gsn running these flash ads SLOWS you down to enjoy playing the game....IMHO, I think that GSN need to llook for other vehicles in blocking these ads while the user is playing....I belong to other game sites for which they run ads ONLY on INTERMISSION.....I love the oogles but hate to play games on this site...Its very TIRESOME...

I know nothing about computer stuff... but my husband installed Flash Blocker on my computer and I have no problems whatsoever playing Lingo. Whenever a Flash ad (or game for that matter) comes up, you have to click on it for it to work. May be worth a try?
