Really simple question. What shows did you used to watch on TV when you were younger? Do you wish you could relive your childhood and watch them again, or were those shows a bit too much now that you think of it? Let's hear it.

I loved "The Electric Company" and "Zoom". Even all these years later, I still have fond memories of watching both of those shows. Both have been remade into "modernized" versions in recent years, but they just don't compare to the originals. If someone were to re-air the original versions of "TEC" and "Zoom", I'd probably tune in to relive my childhood days.
Too many to think of, although the ones that stick out in my head are What Would You Do?, Scrabble, The Adventures of David the Gnome, Muppet Babies, Garfield and Friends, Nova, Wild and Crazy Kids, Looney Tunes and Tiny Toon Adventures. [/I]

M2nFarisFan: Backing your champyinz since 1994.
- (The Politically Incorrect era of) Sesame Street
- TPIR - which I still watch to this day!
- The Smurfs (enjoyed all of the run except for the 1989-90 season)
- It's Punky Brewster! (1985 - 1987)
- Press Your Luck (1984 - 1986)
- Richie Rich (1980 - 1984)
- 1980s Little Rascals cartoon series (1982 - 1984) - if it's never going to be released on DVD, is it asking too much for someone to upload episodes other than "Pete's Big Break" to YouTube?
- $ale of the Century
- Alvin & The Chipmunks
- Pink Panther & Sons
- CHiPs (in syndication)
- The Electric Company
- Mr. Dressup (Canada's equivalent to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood)
- Definition (a Jim Perry-hosted game show from Canada)
- Card Sharks
- Wheel of Fortune - including Chuck Woolery's era!
- The Archies
- The Little Rascals (B&W episodes that aired on the local NBC affiliate in Detroit back in the 1980s, and it is now politically incorrect).
- Pee-Wee's Playhouse
If I were to relive any of them, I would choose the 1980s Little Rascals cartoons more than anything else. Card Sharks currently airs on GSN but only 200 episodes for now. Press Your Luck, okay for a while, but not as exciting after so many airings. Pee-Wee's Playhouse, I have found a place to download almost the entire run (without getting a virus), and I have all but one episode - they're being added to my iPod eventually. And Pink Panther & Sons, as far as I know, the entire run is on YouTube. And classic Wheel of Fortune, since a lot of them are no longer on YouTube, it doesn't really matter to me. $ale of the Century is one show I could watch again, but for now we have YouTube for that. TPIR I still devote myself to watching daily, but not during the summer reruns. I did make one allowance and that is for the replay of Earth Day 2011 that aired today. Other than that, I will only be recording the BTS episode, the unaired April 11th episode, and the Beatles cover band. The February 15th episode (airing on August 31) is shut out for me - due to personal reasons. After that, I will be recording Season 40.
As for the rest - ESPECIALLY SESAME STREET - I have no desire to relive those shows again.

Good move, GSN, for finally picking up more Press Your Luck and $ale of the Century!
I always watched Supermarket Sweep, every night on Lifetime at 6:00 PM.
So I wasn't the only one who watched game shows when I was younger. I remember watching Press Your Luck when it was on USA Network (this was the early 90s when I could talk) and I loved the Whammies. I thought those were the best things I ever saw when I was younger.

Also, forgot to add one cartoon show to my list: The Get Along Gang, which aired on CBS in first run for one season only - from 1984 to 1985. If I recall, reruns continued into 1986, airing after the uber-short Season 2 of The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show. The Get Along Gang were popular during 1984-85, but their popularity fizzled out quickly afterwards. Makes me wonder if reruns of Richie Rich replaced The Get Along Gang or Charlie Brown and Snoopy in 1986?

When I was really young, talking like 8 years old or so......I liked Pee-Wee's Playhouse, You Can't Do That On Television, The Snorks, and nobody can deny the show of ages.......HAPPY DAYS!!! Lmao
There's a lot. But to name a few: All That, Clarissa Explains it All, Doug, Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life... many of the older Nickelodeon shows from the 1990's... it's really making me wish I had TeenNick right now. But at least Arnold and Rocko are getting proper DVD releases.
A lot of classic shows that used to air in local syndication (Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Cosby Show, Who's The Boss?), and Nick at Nite when we briefly had cable in the mid-90's (including Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart Show, Taxi).
I've been a fan of The Simpsons for as long as I can remember. While the latest 12 seasons or so of the show don't get much airplay on my screen, the early years I will always treasure.
There are few exceptions, i.e. Full House and most of the years of Family Matters, but mostly everything has held up in rewatching again today.
Game shows (MG, MGHS Hour, Squares, TJW, TTD, Password Plus, Super Password, PYL, WOF, Jeopardy, Sale Of The Century, TPIR, Scrabble, etc)
Nickelodeon (Mostly Double Dare and You Can't Do That On Television)
Series (Golden Girls, Cosby Show, MASH, Night Court, Cheers, Happy Days, and things that were already syndie by then...Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie, Honeymooners)
And I still love all of these.![]()
I can't believe I forgot to mention this show. We didn't have cable when Sweep aired originally on Lifetime, but every time I visited my aunt's house, I looked forward to seeing it. It was probably one of the first game shows I really fell in love with, along with WoF and TPIR. I was glad to see the reruns and eventually new episodes on Pax years later.

Shout! released the first season back in June. I know this is going on my wish list.![]()
Exactly the same for me. Sweep is single-handedly reponsible for my affinity to game shows this day, and that's why I will always love it. I started watching Sweep when I was a toddler in the early 90s when my grandmother would babysit me. Then, I got hooked on it, and always wanted to watch it at 6:00PM on Lifetime when my parents and I ate dinner. My parents weren't thrilled about the show at first, but it grew on them, and they ended up loving it and enjoying it as much as I did. When Sweep went off of Lifetime in 1998, I forgot about the show for a while, but then I got word around 2001 that PAX was making all new episodes, and it really made me want to watch the show again. Unfortunately my cable provider at the time didn't get PAX TV, but we did get GSN (Game Show Network at the time), and so I started watching Game Show Network, hoping they showed Sweep. I was disappointed to find out that GSN didn't show Sweep, but I discovered so many other old great game shows on the network that I really started to enjoy watching. Of course, that was back in the gold old days of GSN.
My game show watching these days is limited, with the exception of catching a first-run WoF episode once in a while. I still like game shows, but I just don't feel that there's much out there these days that has that same old feel of a classic 70s, 80s, 90s, or even early 2000s show. I don't watch GSN at all anymore. The rerun abuse of the same few classics just doesn't appeal to me, and I just don't care for the newer programming. but I still like to hang around the message boards to see what people are saying, and hoping for something good, even just new episodes of the $25,000 Pyramid would be great. I just wish GSN would pick up Supermarket Sweep someday so all those kids (and adults) who grew up with Sweep in the 90s and early 2000s can relive the memories.
Sorry if I got a little off topic.
