TV Shows that had Inconsistent Opening Credits in Syndication

Carrying over one of my old threads from the former GSN Buzz Threads:

How many other TV shows you know that had inconsistent opening credits in syndication can you think of and why?

NOTES:
1). We're talking about things like a show's original opening credits being replaced with other openings and what not.

2). And shortened 30-second opening credits of their original credits, unless noted otherwise does not count, UNLESS it completely replaces the original opening credits of some shows.

Ex of Rule #2: The Smurfs in the syndicated episodes (since 1986 and 1987) and U.S. Cartoon Network and U.S. Boomerang reruns, all of the original Smurfs' intros have been replaced with the shortened 30-second opening credits from Season 4 (1984-85) and repackaged as The Smurfs' Adventures in the opening credits title cards on those reruns.


Mr. Belvedere - A shortened 30-second intro from the 3rd season (1986-87) was used in all episodes in syndicated reruns, including a few Canadian reruns prior to Season 6.

The Flintstones - Up until the late 1990s Turner updated prints and on Boomerang and the golden Cartoon Network days, the opening credits "Meet the Flintstones" from Season 4-Season 6 replaced the original "Rise and Shine" Opening, used in Seasons 1-2 in syndicated reruns.

The Jetsons - From the late 1980s-1990s and even on several current Turner print updated copies, they replaced the original 1960s opening theme tune with the one heard on the 1980s version on all 1960s episodes.

The 1960s version used real instruments and had a live-band feel to the theme song. The 1980s version used synthesized drums.

Plus, they replaced the original 1960s closing credits with the closing credits from the 1980s version on all episodes in syndicated late 1980s-pre-late 1990s Turner-update prints.

The Honeymooners - but more so with the ending credits.

I hated the 80s-style Jetsons theme that was edited in to those episodes, it just didn't fit.

Alvin and the Chipmunks - Season 6 (1988-89), which was the 1st season to be produced w/out Ruby-Spears, originally had two different openings. In the early Season 6 episodes, the opening had Dave and the Chipmunks sitting in front of the TV watching clips from what appears to be from The Chipmunk Adventure from 1987. The 2nd Season 6 opening had the Chipmunks in tuxedos coming out of a limousine to enter the studio.

Both of these original Season 6 openings also was the 1st to use an updated version of the theme song tune.

In syndicated as well as cable reruns, both of these original Season 6 openings was replaced with the Ruby-Spears-era opening credits from (Seasons 1-5) with the updated theme tune from Season 6.

The Snorks - The original NBC airings had two opening credits, one used for each of the 1st 2 seasons.

Season 1 originally had an opening narration that told the story about Captain Ortega and how he discovered the Snorks and the theme song was called "Snork Along a Happy Feeling" I think.

Season 2 like Season 1, also had lyrics, except the theme tune and song was changed to something called "We're the Snorks" and sounded more upbeat than Season 1's theme did.

Seasons 3-4 was the season that the more familiar "Come Along with the Snorks" version made its debut. This version replaced the 1st 2 original NBC opening credits in syndicated and cable reruns.

Emergency!:

On all season 1 and 2 episodes, an instrumental theme is heard.

Most season 3 episodes, plus everything from seasons 4-6 (except 905-Wild, which was a failed pilot) has a resuce scene involving the five main performers with no music except for the occasional bass guitar throb and a brief sting at the end.

Married with Children - The original 1st opening credits was just simply the names of the cast members flying in and out on a blank black screen. Plus, the exterior of the Bundy's house was in a more darker brown color, whereas the subsequent seasons had the exterior of the Bundy house in a beige color.

In syndication and cable, this opening was replaced by a shortened version of the S2 opening credits.

Inspector Gadget - There were several inconsistencies here:

1). The 1st episode (which was the pilot episode actually made in 1982) had a slightly different opening and different city background in thes start of the intro. Also, Inspector Gadget sported a mustache in this intro and the show's title logo was on a green background, instead of the orange bg, seen on all other episodes of the series. This was the only time in the entire run of Inspector Gadget this gadet would ever sport a mustache.

2). Also, there were many different other voice actors on the original 1982 pilot. In syndie and some cable reruns, Don Adams' voice was re-dubbed over the entire pilot episode and the storyline was changed to where Gadget only wore the mustache for an important assignment.

3). The closing credits on the pilot episode was drastically different than in other episodes. In the original pilot closing credits, it had various animated scenes of Gadget moving around in different scenarios. This was replaced by the 2nd season closing credits on the old Family Channel (now ABC Family) reruns and the 1st season closing credits in local syndicated reruns.

Grace Under Fire: the original run on ABC had a different theme sequence and song, "Lady Madonna," sung by Aretha Franklin for the first 3 seasons. Seasons 4 and 5 had a completely different one.

Though the original opening hasn't been seen in the US syndication package and all of the episodes in it use the theme from the later seasons.
