Sooo why the sudden decreased payout of Vegas Nights

    Checked my inbox of daily games that I won and I noticed that I got 175 for placing 2nd. The spots were originally 1st - 500, 2nd - 450, 3rd - 425, 4th - 400, etc. Now it's much less. 1st - 200, 2nd - 175, 3rd - 150 etc.

Why the sudden change, seems really unfair.

It was just updated to have an extended leaderboard.

In extended leaderboards, the top prize is smaller.

There are now 300 top winners in Vegas Nights.

I agree with you though, all leaderboards should have a top prize of 500, then decrease down the list based on how many positions there are on that particular leaderboard.

That is really dumb. I would much rather prefer it the way it was before or have the payouts not stretched so thin.

You know in a way, I'm all for it. There were a bunch of bots that would take the top slots and grab thousands of oodles a day. This kinda dissuades them from being able to do that any more.

It also dissuades legitimately good players from getting any kind of substantial reward for being good at a game.

I know people believe that there are a lot of cheaters and bots on this site... I'm not one of them. I'm not saying there aren't any... but people just don't want to accept that it takes a lot of TIME and PATIENCE and SKILL to reach the top of the boards. This, to me, is the equivalent of giving everybody a trophy just for participating. In other words, it rewards mediocrity.

I don't mind the idea of extended leaderboards to get less-skilled players more excited about playing a game, but don't punish the top players by making the reward less for excelling at the game.

What do you mean bots? Considering me, DejaVuvuzela, and atlantak are on there consistently on a daily basis and I can't speak for Deja and Atlantak but I'm damn sure I didn't use a bot. Deja has posted YouTube videos of him playing, not using bots. So your claim is pretty much null.

Secondly, lowering the payouts wasn't going to stop people from (at least not until the stupid token stunt GSN decided to pull today.) as I would probably still play it because A) it's a fun game and B) I'm good at it.

But there are games (like Diner Dash) where exploits can be used that give people 500 oodles just by being able to use a glitch. These people use this glitch, get the maximum possible score of 30,000 points and then boom, they're 500 oodles richer. (by the way, scoring 30,000 points without using said glitch is impossible)

Another game that had nearly impossible scores to attain was Alu's Revenge. People there would score over a million on that game. Now it isn't that big of a problem but when they were giving out gift cards and TV's, it was a massive problem.

NewNeko... if you know about the glitch in Diner Dash, can't you use it too? There are glitches in a lot of the games, my favorite (Mahjongg Alchemy) let's you play after the timer says the time is up. That doesn't do a thing for me as I always finish the game before time is up.

But isn't the playing field level again if people know about the glitches...and those are definitely not the same as bots. There are still real people playing the game well. Like I said, I have no problem with them extending the leaderboards but they shouldn't punish the really good players if they do extend it. Keep the top spots worth the same. It's just not fair to people who have practiced and practiced and still have to wait for that "right" game to be "dealt" to them to use their skill to get a great score. Eh. Whatever. It all doesn't matter... things are so screwy here now.

To xsmootx: They deleted your post because you're not supposed to name other players in posts (at least I assume that's why) I'm taking the liberty of re-posting here with the others' names starred out.... I hope you don't mind...

    From xsmootx:
"What do you mean bots? Considering me, **********, and ******** are on there consistently on a daily basis and I can't speak for [them] but I'm damn sure I didn't use a bot. [One player] has posted YouTube videos of him playing, not using bots. So your claim is pretty much null.

to squishmar and xsmootx: Hi.....I thought the changes were very unfair also. xsmootx, dejavu and myself dominated the top of the leaderboards, but only because we put in the time and effort to learn the game and build on our skills. I dont use a "bot" and I dont appreciate those that are not willing to put in the time to learn the game to blame us of cheating.

People used to email me and I would give them tips on how to max out the boards. I would let them know that sometimes you have to wait until you get that "right" board, but "heres what can help". etc.

I have emailed GSN because at the end of the month oodles, they gave me 200 oodles for being in first place..FOR THE MONTH!!! They made the change only last Friday(Aug 26) and they gave me oodles under the new point system. Sooooo unfair!!!

I was so annoyed I did not play vegas nights since I found out about the change........I dont feel its worth my effort...What do you guys think?

I agree. I think it's entirely unfair. Yes, expand the leaderboards, but don't make the top 10 spots worth any less. People are so quick to cry "cheater!" and don't seem to understand the time and effort it takes to make the top of a board.... even if you're good at the game. I'll admit, I stopped caring as long as I was somewhere in the top 8 of Mahjongg Alchemy, but these last couple of weeks I was starting to wonder if I'd forgotten how to play the game! I had to struggle and play many, many games just to place 7th or 8th when just last month I had a run of placing first four days in a row with hardly any effort at all. Finally, tonight I had a great game. But it's the first in a long time. It just drives home the point that it *does* take LUCK to be "dealt" that good game... then the SKILL comes into the equation by knowing how to get all the potential out of that lucky game. But it sometimes is hard work!

The time you put in to place at the top for the month is substantial and I can't believe GSN didn't honor that when the change was implemented so late in the month. That is shameful on their part. The leaderboards really should be a "Crazy 8" type thing, because 5 or 10 oodles aren't going to do anybody any good. That way, you have a chance of getting a substantial amount (like a lotto system) for placing lower on the boards and it would promote game playing for many games. But again, leave the top 10 untouched... you shouldn't punish legitimate players for excelling at a game! And if there is cheating going on, that's a whole different subject that should be investigated and FIXED. It's a security problem. But people need to understand that there are really good players on most of the games who reach their scores honestly. And it takes time and effort.

I think it is more fair this way. I do understand why the top players would be angry. Before, if you were good at a game or two(usually if you are tops in a game there is at least one other similar game that you can also place high in) and consistently place in the top five (whether though hard work, patience, and skill; or because you know something we don't know) you could get 1,000 or more oodles EVERYDAY (even more if you consider weekly and monthly leaderboard bonuses). This puts you at a HUGE oodle advantage to the rest of us who play hard and patiently but for some reason just don't seem to have the "skill". I know there have been many times when I have played a game 30 times or more in a day and had a gain of 5 oodles.... Why can't we gamble with oodles or have oodle tourneys. Tournaments or "matched skill competitions" would be great for "mediocre" and "superior" players. GSN wouldn't have to spend any more of their precious oodles but we could have a chance to win more. Also my favorite games (and the reason I started oodling) were Double Trouble and Deal or No Deal (when we could gamble with oodles). Now I don't play them any more. If oodles have no cash value why can't we gamble with them. The prices of auctions have been so high that the only way for an average player like me to win anything is to wait a year or more..not very exciting. Also, I do not understand why the oodle payouts on leaderboards vary from game to game.

  14. #14
That's just my point momcjf1297. Why do the payouts on leaderboards vary from game to game? I see your point i think those that are good at free cell are getting the advantage over those that are good at vegas nights or whatever game out there with the same scale as vegas nights.

I would just like to add that there are definitely cheats out there for computer savvy individuals. I looked it up and found a bot for trivia questions and something that would slow down the wonder wheel games. I also found something you could download to give you extra bombs and wands and things on vegas nights and a program that would allow you to freeze columns on big money. I did not try any of them because I do not think it's good sportsmanship to cheat, but I did find them online with very little effort. I also saw a YouTube video of a high score on vegas nights...it was so fast I could not see what the person was doing. They were making matches and before it completed and the pieces had fallen in to place they had already made another match and used a boost. Now I am not saying they cheated..it is possible that they have practiced a lot, are very intelligent, have super human reflexes and a very fast computer, but I believe if they are savvy enough to post that video it is possible that they could slow down the game to play it and then speed it up for the video...just sayin'
