    Lingo GONE*, Catch 21 GONE*

With the new schedule changes announced yesterday featuring different primetime programming every night, the new Lingo and Catch 21 are almost off the schedule. Unlike Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza, Live Triangle and 1 vs. 100 (those shows are completely off the schedule), Catch 21 and Lingo are in very scattered spots. The 6-8P.M. primetime schedule is fine as it is, especially with the elimination of Baggage at 7:30. For some people, the only reason why they watch GSN is because of Lingo and or Catch 21. The long Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night marathons will not work, and would probably be better if they were 2-3 hours. Monday and Friday night primetime schedules are pretty good though. The new Lingo had great ratings when the episodes were new, and this is surprising to me because it means Lingo will not get a second season, and Catch 21 will probably not get another season too.

I do have to note that the reduction of Lingo episodes may be good since there were only 40 episodes, but it disappoints me because of that changes it will probably not get a new season. The show simply needed a few minor tweeks and it would have been fine.

Here are how many times each show is on every week.
    Before Starting November 7th
    Lingo (Bill) 13 8
    Catch 21 15 9
    Baggage 19 24
    Newlywed Game 13 19
Deal Or No Deal 26 26
    Family Feud 52 47

    Rerun abuse, anyone?

Actually, Lingo is going from 5 weekday airings up to 10. Also Catch 21 only gain the 7:30PM airing for 2 weeks, it's been stuck at 2PM for months now.

Nope, it's 5 airings. Engvall Lingo will only air on weekdays at midnight starting November 7. The 6 PM slot will go to Sherri's Newlywed Game.

Can't see Lingo staying "off" for too long...think GSN is just concerned that it is going to be abused to the point that DOND became when it was on 4-5 times back when it started on GSN. Limiting the airings now keeps it fresh when they make new episodes....they will.

Just wish the players are a bit smarter (on the whole) next cycle. Some of the people just weren't too bright. Woolery's Lingo usually didn't have a problem with smart players.

^ That's why I love Woolery's Lingo better, because the contestants were brighter. I still watch Woolery's Lingo every day, and even though its reran over and over at times, I can't remember all the words on EVERY episode.

Catch 21 is one of the reasons why I like the primetime schedule now. It's something fun to watch. 6-8P.M. is a good primetime schedule now and if they want to do these "marathons" do it 8-12P.M. instead. 5 hours is too many

Too many sexual-based jokes in Bill's version of Lingo.

I personally liked it more with Chuck hosting it, since Chuck's humor felt natural, instead of forced like Bill's humor. Different type of comedy, I suppose.

Chuck's still alive though, isn't he?

As far as I know, he lives in Texas somewhere. I think he's only 70, and nobody has posted anything about him on here.

Way, way too much Deal or No Deal! Love Match game. How about reviving that one? Both Lingo games good. Agree that a few tweaks to new Lingo would, again more like the original. Having a new 1 vs 100 would be a good idea, one more like the original. (I miss Shandy (sp). I watch GSN at least 5 hours a day.

Too much Deal or No Deal, I'm surprised it got its own marathon night plus another hour on "Million Dollar Monday Marathons". Match games have been shown over and over again, and GSN would probably make a new version of Match Game not good.

^Actually, given their recent track record of gutter-diving for immature chuckles, a new Match Game may do quite well for GSN if they could get together a panel with good chemistry. MG thrives on the dirty humor they've tried to force into Lingo, so it may be something they'd want to look at.

If GSN wants R-rated humor, they should just show every Match Game episode. If they were to make a new version, they might use the 1960s format, one celebrity and two contestants per team to save money. Then again, the NBA players aren't doing anything now.
