All those shows have potential for high 200K ratings in the morning if they just show different episodes of the shows. Otherwise for the schedule they should lease more classics.
And the suggestions you made in my opinion should total 2 hours! Add additional shows for half hour airings for the other two.

Rerun abuse is the root of the problem. I agree that something needs to be done, and they need to add more shows. They also need to get rid of Darn Karn in the morning...he doesn't fit the daypart, does them no real favors ratingswise, and he's on plenty at other times of the day.

Let's try this scenario (adding a few proven winners back into the lineup):

    8:00-MG Syn
    8:30-Blockbusters (Cullen)
    9:00-Card Sharks (Perry, 1979-80)
    9:30-100K Pyramid (Clark, 1985-86)
    10:00-Password Plus (Ludden)
    10:30-Super Password (Convy)
    11:00-Match Game (1975-76)
11:30-Tattletales (any, since we haven't seen it in forever)
    12:00-Family Feud (Dawson, 70s)
    12:30-Press Your Luck (1985-86)
    1:00-Wheel Of Fortune (90s)
    1:30-Jeopardy (pre-Jennings era)

Password needs to come back, which is why I gave it the full hour. I kept 2 Match Games, but IMHO, 7x and Syn should be there. We haven't seen Blockbusters, PYL, and (especially) TT for quite some time, and they could certainly pull ratings, so I thought it would be good to throw them in.

    Thoughts?

As I said a couple of months ago in another thread, I think the best thing to do is run each show in a half hour time block and to end one group then start the other. The examples I gave were MG should go 73-79, Syn, PM. Card Sharks should go through the Perry run then start the Eubanks one. This gives everything a rest at some point.

Plus, in reference to MG I have never understood separating the 7x version fron the syndicated one. Didn't the syndicated version start upon the end of the CBS one? PM I understand wanting to run it separately (although I wouldn't) but the 7x/Syn I dont.

I would put Card Sharks, Match Game, Dawson Feud and 100K Pyramid in the late morning (like 10am-Noon) Also I don't think that Sony would let GSN show Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune anytime soon during daytime slots. That's why Jeopardy is on only at 2am and weekends at 9am.

Then again, anything to get rid of Deal or No Deal

Molly, I love that idea! But I moved some things around, I added nothing and removed nothing.

    8:00-Match Game Syn
    8:30-Blockbusters (Cullen)
    9:00-Super Password
    9:30-Tattletales
    10:00-Wheel of Fortune
    10:30-Jeopardy!
    11:00-Password Plus
    11:30-$100,000 Pyramid
    12:00-Press Your Luck
    12:30-Family Feud (Dawson)
    1:00-Match Game 75
    1:30-Card Sharks (Perry)

Just moved WoF and J! A little farther from the access hour. Password Plus and The $100,000 Pyramid are the only other thing that have actually worked at 11:00am. That way Gene and the Crew could do better in a better timeslot. Card Sharks with the master himself Jim Perry usually did well in the 1:00pm hour.

Rerun abuse is the culprit. Perhaps that is why CR even had a dip in ratings weeks before GSN pulled it( though the week before it had very good numbers). You can only watch an epiosde so many times within a definite time frame before you get bored. Since most of the ratings are generally by people who don't visit this board, the tendency is to just say" Wait, saw that a few months/weeks ago,",,,,and turn the channel.
The one really good rated show...25 K ..is being pulled. My question is if 100 K is just the same as most people say, why doesn't it have better ratings or similar 25 K ratings? The answer is just acquire the rest of 25 K and/or new 100 K. Ditto for CS and MG.
I'm not a CR fan, but why they took it off is beyond me.Perhaps they will bring it back in a few months, just like they are doing with Chuck Lingo after a rest.

Match Game and Dawson Feud haven't shown the potential for big numbers in plum Friday night access hour and prime time slots, despite plenty of promotion.

What has shown potential are recent acquisitions like 5th Grader. Sony should finally relent and let GSN have a very recent Wheel of Fortune hour somewhere in daytime, safely away from Wheel's first-runs in the access hour. GSN should also make a big push for Harvey Feud. Again, the network should agree to keep the show away from Steve's late afternoon and early fringe slots. Then GSN might pry some episodes loose.

Those two shows alone, in recent episodes that look fresh and interesting, would go a long way toward restoring respectability to GSN's daytime lineup. Although Meredith Millionaire hasn't done particularly well lately, I would also consider adding very recent episodes to GSN's daytime schedule. This might get tricky because it could conflict with Millionaire's predominantly daytime syndie slots, but I'm fantasizing a little here. It would be important to get episodes using the current randomized format, to make the show look new.

So my fantasy for GSN weekday daytime...

8:00AM-10:AM - Pre-1990 - maybe Match Game, Dawson Feud, Card Sharks, Pyramid - though I would personally like Password Plus/Super Password instead of Dawson
    10:00AM-11:00AM - Harvey Feud (2010-11)
11:00AM-12:00PM - Meredith Millionaire (2010-11) - sort of the sacrificial lamb to TPiR, I'm afraid, though it might do respectable numbers
12:00PM-1:00PM - Jeopardy (2010-11) - well away from the access hour
1:00PM-2:00PM - Wheel of Fortune (2010-11) - don't expect 500K+ numbers like on Black Friday last year, but it would probably do pretty well (wink)
2:00PM-3:00PM - new episodes of my beloved Chain Reaction - this is pure fantasy, I know - maybe a rerun along with Lingo or Whammy is the best I can realistically hope for - Donnymid is another, more remote possibility to pair with a Chain Reaction rerun
3:00PM-4:00PM - O'Hurley Feud - gives the ratings-getter more exposure instead of exiling it to after-midnight on weekdays

And then we roll into the rest of the schedule, starting with Karn Feud's rock-solid hour at 4:00PM. I bet this lineup would produce a lot better numbers than the current lame weekday daytime schedule.

New eps of Chain Reaction at 2?? I know this is fantasy but don't "new" shows normally start in prime time these days?

Of course, I was just wildly fantasizing. I would keep around a rerun, though, and pair it with a compatible recent show like Lingo or Donnymid, maybe even Whammy.

Just wondering. I wish prime time wasnt a must because I do think shows like this could hold their own during the day.

Good schedule, chameleonwhammy, what about the afternoon schedule? Super Password and Tattletales, that's the Bert hour.

Yes, this is the usual dreamland for older-is-better posters. But there is no evidence that this daytime schedule would do any better than the current little-watched one.

In the real world, GSN has to get viewers. It can't exist as a taxpayer-subsidized museum for old stuff beloved by a handful of Internet posters. My suggested schedule may not be ideal or even practical. GSN might not able to get the very recent syndie episodes that I've mentioned.

But at least those shows in their current formats attract many millions of viewers every weekday right now. Maybe they would all flop on GSN, though I doubt it. Still, if I were Pete Rose and had to bet, I'd put a bundle on them attracting more viewers than a collection of game show antiques.
