It's been a while since we've done haikus. For a refresher, a haiku generally consists of a three-line stanza that has a total of 17 syllables, written in the following pattern:
Example haiku
A chance at thousands
Of bonus Oodles for you
Write the best haiku
Breakdown of the syllables
Line 1 A chance at thous/ands - 5 syllables Line 2 Of bo/nus Oo/dles for you - 7 syllables Line 3 Write the best hai/ku - 5 syllables
The classic haiku theme is nature and many traditional Japanese haiku reflect that with descriptive seasonal words or images. I understand there's more to this wonderful art but for our purposes, we'll keep it simple and just follow the 5/7/5 syllable pattern. If you need a little help, check this site out. Time to get creative!
