Read this quote taken from THIS ARTICLE:

Smith stressed the bill would only affect websites based outside the United States and criticised opponents for failing to cite specific sections, saying many have failed to read it and were disguising their economic interests with rhetoric about Internet freedom.
So yeah, it sounds like the vast majority of the Internet will be affected, as they are comprised mostly of non-American sites. If anything, DailyMotion will be affected, but not YouTube. BigJon's site will not be affected. This site will not be affected. There must be some misinformation with this issue, yet people are freaking out as if the sky is falling.

But what I wonder is, seeing I live in Canada, will American-based websites be blocked in Canada or elsewhere in the world? I am pretty confident that Canada hasn't done anything SOPA/PIPA-like, and probably won't for quite some time.

I am also wondering, will this bill affect Second Life if it passes into law? If I recall, Second Life is American-based, and I am worried that it may affect Canada.

YouTube has no bearing on the economy in the U.S., much like how YouTube has no bearing on MGM filing for bankruptcy. Your theory has got to be the stupidest you've ever thought of. Many of your other theories were stupid as well, but none of them were as stupid as this.

People, don't listen to him. He's just trying to put a positive spin on silencing something that actually helps Americans speak their mind and find out the truth about Obama and other crooked politicians. Without the Internet, the truth would never come out. Your theory is bull****, Jon. Total bull****.

I decided to take back what I said by deleting that post.

You no longer have to worry about you're favorite websites being blocked. http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-57...for-opponents/

ONE provision has been pulled from this heinous act. Nothing is safe for the citizens of this country until all of the politicians have been pulled from office.

I still don't understand why anybody thinks the Republican House, and a generally conservative Senate, are in a big hurry to do Big Media's bidding and pass SOPA. This just doesn't make political sense. The less power Big Media has, the more the GOP likes it. Those two organizations generally don't get along very well, in case you haven't noticed.

Well, Barack Obama has announced he will VETO any act that threatens internet freedom, including SOPA and PIPA. He's definitely trying to get re-elected.

Presidents are nothing more than corporate pitchmen these days. Not that Obama deserves hate, but he's just a puppet. He has no real power over this country. Until the real power structure of the planet is removed (the ones that are really pulling the strings on what the president does and says), we'll never have another real president.

So I guess that means that SOPA and PIPA are going to die? If so, I am relieved!

Apparently Wikipedia is doing a blackout today.

Imagine a world without free knowledge

I opened the Internet the first time, and lucky for me I have BigJon's site as my default homepage. Plus Google works fine for me. So does YouTube. But Wikipedia, I don't use as frequently use as any message board I use. Sure, it sucks that some sites won't work for me, but at least it's a drop in the bucket to me.

And, Buzzerblog is protesting today too. It's also down. I hope SOPA fails.
