It comes down to talent on the show. The host can deny their reruns air (i.e.- Chuck Henry & Now You See It '89), and if the show contains celebrity guests, they can deny their appearances. Match Game is probably most affected by that, but Password Plus and Super Password also had guests who didn't clear their appearances. Anitra Ford, Valerie Bertinelli, David Leisure, Bob Newhart, James B. Sikking and Betty Thomas are just a few of the people who have not allowed certain repeats to air. In order for those shows to air, these people would have to clear their appearances. After a number of years, Leslie Nielsen finally cleared his appearances on Match Game. I believe it was 7 years before GSN was able to air them (2001 or so). Celebrities also have the option to clear some, but not all of their appearances. Anita Ford cleared her Price is Right appearances, but not those from Match Game. As well, Valerie Bertinelli didn't clear her appearances on Match Game, but did for The $20,000 Pyramid.

Do they tell GSN that they don't want those cleared? It's just that I don't know how it works out.

Yes, they (or if they are deceased, their estate) inform GSN.

Does anyone know if we're going to see the February 20-27 week ratings?

The Newlywed Game and Baggage new episodes

Was it a good idea that GSN is airing these episodes at different times than they were? Instead of The Newlywed Game weeknights at 6, and Baggage all five nights at 6:30, will this work out for GSN? What do you think?

Not watching either one no matter when it airs. On that note, when is it?

The Newlywed Game- Mondays and Tuesdays and 6 and 6:30pm
Baggage- Wednesday and Thursdays at 6 and 6:30pm

*Plus its also worse because now there will be six hours of Sherri on Tuesday and six hours of Baggage on Wednesday.

Bad idea because many people will be tired of those already. How about Card Sharks on Tuesdays and Password on Wednesdays?

If they didn't deliberately put them on the days of their blocks (Monday and Thursday aren't issues), then maybe it would work. As it is, it's neither a gain or a loss.

Would having Pyramid Thursdays again do well instead of only having it on Fridays?

I have a feeling GSN won't be touching any of the block scheduling soon, except Fridays...so no. Mondays, Thursday and definitely Sundays have been pulling in strong numbers (400K-some 600K's). And then they'll do anything to keep Sherri and Jerry's blocks, even though they were doing worse than usual in February (200 and 300K's)

Baggage on Wednesday and Thursday, is it? How about having Part 1 on Wednesday, where they decide to date, and Part 2 on Thursday, the date itself? Or Part 1 on Wednesday where Jerry says, "Can you accept his/her baggage?" Then start Thursday with the answer. "Holy Mastro's Steak House, Batman!"

GSN did have a version of the show like that called "Baggage-First Dates". I would like to see a couple more of those episodes with former Baggage couples. If only they could fit 2 or 3 couples in a half hour rather than just one. But otherwise GSN should just leave "Baggage" the way it is.

What about the Press Your Luck documentary, somebody mentioned it earlier but would it do that well again?

  15. #405
It was rerun a couple of times, but I don't think it had nearly the same ratings as the first broadcast. Everybody pretty much knows that story by now, and if they had a great interest in it, they probably watched it back then. Also, since the episodes were included within the documentary, GSN would have to pay to air them, I'm sure. I don't think they'd want to pay for just those two episodes, if Fremantle would even allow them to just get those episodes alone.
