I'd love to see some clips from the original (1970's) version of "Zoom."

But, was it the only time a cat screeching heard on "The Puzzle Place"?

Yesterday and the day before, I watched on Hulu a total of *13* episodes of the original Electric Company.
    (Season 1) #5, #40, #75, #128
    (Season 2) #245, #249
    (Season 3) #261, #290, #297

The Lawrence Welk Show used to air on our local PBS station, but they have since pulled it. But after checking out the official Lawrence Welk site, they're still producing new compilation episodes, it's just the PBS station that's not airing anymore. So thankfully, I have YouTube so I can tune in for my weekly fix. I may not fit the demographic of their viewership, but I love Classic shows! Especially the B&W Shows!

+ 1000's of more clips from the same user. (Clip: 1955 episode - White Sport Coat remix)

Square One was a show I enjoyed watching while I was growing up, I'd watch it every afternoon after coming home from school:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXp3AMgbG6k (Clip: Opening)

And here's another show I wish they'd bring back! - Ghostwriter!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS_lD9_Ur3g (Clip: Opening)

Bob Ross & The Joy of Painting was so soothing and relaxing, and really encouraged me to try out painting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HovZ4xhgohk (Clip: Opening to Series 24)

And the show that was my entire youth: Sesame Street. Unfortunately, with all of today's Politically Correctness, it just will never be the same as it was back then. I did buy the DVD Boxsets though, so I have some souvenirs of this innocent era:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laEyKDxRUd8 (Clip: 1969 Premiere Episode)

Great idea for a thread! It brings me back so many memories of growing up. Like Carmen Sandiego, Reading Rainbow, and many more that I'll be thinking all day about!

Seeing you live in Montreal, do you get PBS from Detroit?

I remember watching The Lawrence Welk Show in syndication on Saturday nights - mainly during 2002 to 2005. I slowly lost interest in such show during the 2005-2006 season, so chances are the episodes I enjoyed seeing first in 2002 and 2003 disappeared by the fall of 2005. Not to mention that a lot of the singers/dancers with the show's original run are probably dead, or really old now.

It seems as if, like B&W shows, 1950s and 1960s shows are going the way of the dinosaur on TV, and going the way of the DVD. We'd be lucky enough to see shows from as early as 1970 on the air nowadays. But come the 2020's, Match Game will become prehistoric on GSN.

Also, I found a clip of a Reading Rainbow segment from an episode that got skipped at some point during the years that RR was on the air. It features the story The Magic School Bus Inside The Earth. I heard rumor that the episode got skipped because the story was based on a show that was airing on PBS at that time - The Magic School Bus.

    Check it out:

Also, I discovered a clip of an opening of a lost PBS classic from way back in the day - a Spanish show called Villa Allegre. I remember seeing reruns of such show back in the early 1980s:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4CegLX-ZhM

Plus, anyone remember the PTV days, circa 1995?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dSeNBaE4KM

And who can forget the P-Pals from the mid-to-late 1990s?

    "Friends": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9nRZ...endscreen&NR=1

    P-Pals Bumpers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR55A...eature=related

Man, it's hard to believe the PTV and P-Pals era was nearly 20 years ago already!

I get KCTS9 in Seattle and WGBH2 in Boston on Bell TV.

KCTS is mostly just fund raising shows now, so you can't rely on watching a particular show at a specified time. WGBH is getting to be that way as well.

I watch The French Chef every Saturday at 12:30pm and Jacques Pepin at 12:00pm. But every two weeks it's a pledge drive.

This is rare: A South Dakota Public Television sign-off from 1982. The logo, although it is still, is at 0:45.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj_x5wZcRgo

Another logo rarity: On the 1971 documentary "Artist of Savitria," there is a variation of the original Maryland Center for Public Broadcasting "heptagon" logo (the one that has 7 heptagons zooming out and glows different colors at the end); the 7 notes are played on a piano instead of a horn. It starts at 28:44.

Of course, I hope that more rare vintage PBS station logos will show up over time.

WGBH Boston is probably the PBS ID that I remember the most, and they're still using the same one from the 1960's!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUWygGsyCyY

They occasionally use this more modern, yet still retro style:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0mldQNwOwE

And the other station I receive is KCTS9. Here's a video promo reel of the shows that appeared in the 1980's.

Unfortunately any of this "good stuff" albeit disappeared after several years of funding mismanagement, and now the network is almost constantly begging for money.

If you ever wanted to know what The Nightly Business Report was like back in the early '80s, here's a clip from early 1984.

It would be more interesting to see more NBR from this era, especially a closing of the show.

Another rare vintage PBS station logo: At the beginning of the 1977 hour-long Question Of Choices, PBS Summary Special, A: National Women's Conference, Houston, Texas, it's the '70s KERA logo, from 0:08 to 0:17:

There is also a closing version at the end of the special.

Another rare vintage PBS station logo: This time, it's the Connecticut Public Broadcasting logo from the '70s. It isn't the early '80s metallic one. It comes from Wall Matthews: In Performance. Check it out from 0:08 to 0:15:

Always looking for more full episodes of this all-time classic.
For those interested, here is a link to Hulu, which holds all 13 of these episodes, free for viewing (albeit with commercials)

On a side note, today (February 14, 2012) is the 74th birthday of original Electric Company cast member Lee Chamberlin. (She sure looked "redd hawt" back in the early 70's.)
