hey jhshifris, did you know that their were 2 different versions of Press Your Luck in Germany,
the first version is called (Gluck Am Drucker/Luck at the Push-button)aired on RTLplus in (1992) hosted by Al Munteano, same gameplay & similar set as the (1983-1986)
american counterpart, but the only difference is that instead of animated Whammies you had animated Vultures that you needed to avoid at all cost.
the second version is called (Druck Dein Gluck/Press Your Luck)aired on RTL ll from(1999-2000) hosted by Guido Kellerman, same gameplay but diffrent set then the (1983-1986) american counterpart, but this version also doesn't play with animated Whammies as well instead you had a CGI Shark named "Hainz" that you needed to
avoid at all cost.
(also in Druck Dein Gluck it had a unique rule where landing on a car won the game automatically regradless of the scores.)
-
I knew that. Taiwan had their own version of Press Your Luck once.
The Philippines had their own version of Whammy which was known as Push Your Luck.
Druck Dein Gluck only had one shark animation and if you landed on a crown, then you win the game and you don't answer any Questions. I don't know what a CGI is.
-
CGI<Computer-generated Imagery
the Taiwan version of PYL aired in 1988 without the use of animated Whammies
(Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck/Whammy! Push Your Luck) was hosted by Paolo Bediones & Rufa Mae Quinto and it aired on the GMA Network from (2007-2008)
also i forgot to tell you some of few differences between Gluck am Drucker/Luck at the Push-button and Press Your Luck
differences between Gluck Am Drucker & Press Your Luck
*3 questions were asked instead of 4 questions
*stage hands change the "PUNKTE" sign before and after the "Big Board" segments
*No "Commercial Breaks"
*different theme song for German PYL
Similarties between Gluck Am Drucker & Press Your Luck
*Same "buzz-in" Sound Effect
*Same "Spin collection" Sound Effect (Also used when adding the score and passing spins during the "Big Board" segment)
*Same "Whammy Foghorn" Sound Effect
*Same "Whammy Pop-up" Sound Effect
also Back to Whammy! Push Your Luck i think back in 2007 it was trying to compete with Kapamilya Deal or No Deal(or was it the short-lived (2008) version of Wheel of Fortune) with Kris Aquino on ABS-CBN
also i know that W!PYL hosts Paolo Bediones and Rufa Mae Quinto were trying to be the "Filipino" Pat Sajak & Vanna White of W!PYL but sadly it Failed in comparision
WOF host & co-host=EPIC WIN! W!PYL host & co-host=EPIC FAIL!
see the difference?
-
I do. The Philippines had their own version of Wheel Of Fortune and so did Germany.
Germany also had their own versions of The Price Is Right and Pyramid.
-
(Wheel of Fortune) host:Rustom Padilla(ABC-5 version),Kris Aquino(ABS-CBN version)
co-host: Victoria London(ABC-5 version), Zara Aldana & Jasmine Fitzgerald (ABS-CBN version)
ABC-5 (2001-2002)
ABS-CBN (2008)
also the (ABS-CBN) version of WOF is the worst international version of Wheel of Fortune of all time (IMHO) because of these mistakes
*host Kris Aquino yells too much in the main game and the bonus round that she almost acts pissy and doesn't want to be their at all (maybe because of the cancellation of Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal at the time but then again that's just me)
*2 puzzle assisstant are used the show instead of 1 puzzle assisstant (EPIC FAIL IMHO!)
*annoying-as-hell dramatic music in the background when contestants spin the wheel in the main game
*one mystery wedge is used in their version of the mystery round
*some wedge are not removable on the wheel ex: Bankrupt/P100,000/Bankrupt wedge
also no offense but bottom line Kris Aquino sucks as a Wheel of Fortune host P-E-R-I-O-D! (again IMHO)
German versions of game shows and it's host, network, and years:
(Wheel of Fortune/Glucksrad) host:Frederic Mesiner,Peter Bond,Thomas Ohrner Sat.1 kabel eins (1988-2002),9 Live (2004-2005)
co-host: Maren Gilzer, Sonya Kraus, Katrin Wrobel,Romana Drews
(Thr Price Is Right/Der Preis ist Heiss) Harry Wijnvoord RTL (1989-1997)
(Pyramid/Die Pyramide & Hast Du Worte?) Dieter Thomas Heck (Die Pyramide) ZDF (1978-1994)
Jorg Pilawa,Thomas Koschwitz (Hast Du Worte?) Sat.1 (1996-1998)
-
I would rather see Aus. Wheel Of Fortune(that I mentioned earlier). If you spin the wheel and it lands on AU$750 and see if an R is on the board and 7 of those are on there,
you don't get AU$750 for every R that is on the board. You only get AU$750 for just one R. Also down in Australia, they had their own version of Hollywood Squares and so did England.
Australia had their own version of the late Peter Tomarken's Wipeout.
-
i would too and by the way speaking of aussie Wheel did you know that the Nine Network had a short-lived revival of Wheel of Fortune called Million Dollar Wheel of Fotrtune hosted by Tim Campbell and Kelly Landry in 2008 when it was battling against the Seven Network version of Deal or no Deal with Andrew O' Keefe but it was cancelled due to low ratings but we in america adopted the Million Dollar wedge format from them and never looked back since.
(Hollywood Squares/Celebrity Squares/Personality Squares/All-Star Squares)
(Celebrity Squares) Network Ten (1967)/Nine Network (1975-1976)
(Personality Squares) Network Ten (1967-1969/1981)
(All-Star Squares) Ian Rogerson Seven Network (1999)
also i was going to mention the British version of Hollywood Squares first before you jhshifris but anway the English version is Called Celebrity Squares and it was hosted by the late Bob Monkhouse in which he hosted 2 version of this program or (programme)
the first version was on ITV and it aired from (1975-1979) with the set resembling the original (1966-1980) Peter Marshall era from america.
the second and final version was on Central Television and that aired from (1993-1996) with some parts of the set resembling the syndicated (1986-1989) John Davidson era in america. (also Challenge TV used to air reruns of the 1993-1996 said series)
the Australian version of Wipeout was hosted by Tony Johnston and it originally aired on the Seven Network from (1999-2000) this version only used kids as contestans instead of adults also it used points instead of dollars.
and believe it or not their is also a british version of Wipeout that aired on BBC1 in the UK with it's first host Paul Daniels from (1994-1997) then Daniels replacement with the late Bob Monkhouse from (1998-2002).
BTW:do you know who hosted the 1967 & 1975-1976 australian version of Celebrity Squares and the 1967-1969 & 1981 australian version of Perosnality Squares by any chance jhshifris?
also in 2003 their was a pilot for the british revival of Celebirty Squares called Soho Squares for channel 5 with Tom Binns as host but it got axed in the process.
-
Graham Kennedy said when he was around that he wanted to do Celebrity Squares until he found out that [Reg]Grundy brought Match Game to Australia. This is the same
Reg Grundy that produced Scrabble, Scattergories and Sale Of The Century but he also produced Aus. Wheel Of Fortune and many other game shows that were on the air down there.
-
ok, so i assume that you don't know who hosted Celebrity Squares and Personality Squares in Australia do you?
well anyway, back in the Filipino world of game show you and i both know that Whammy! Push Your Luck with Paolo Bediones & Rufa Mae Quinto ran from (2007-2008) on GMA Network.
but what if the producers for the Filipino version used the classic (1983-1986) format, logo, set, and it's Whammies would it succeed or Fail?
international wise, do you also think that Kris Aquino is the Worst Wheel of Fortune host of all time?
also do you think that having a host & co-host (a.k.a Pat & Vanna style) on Whammy! Push Your Luck was concidered as an epic fail?
-
No, I don't. I'm sorry about that.
It was. Push Your Luck with 2 hosts was a bad idea and I don't know why Fremantle(who owns Whammy and Press Your Luck)wanted it.
I was at YouTube for Kris's version and she is not the next Pat Sajak.
-
Last night I was watching a few episodes of Family Fortunes on You Tube (including the "turkey" episode). I notice that they also had a 0 point performance on Big Money (happen twice on the US Family Feud).
-
hey JamesFF was that Particular "Turkey" episode of Family Fortunes Big Money Round(Fast Money Round) went a little something like this:
(Bygraves):name something people take with them to the beach.
(Bob Johnson):Turkey.
(Bygraves):...the first thing you buy in a supermarket.
(Bob Johnson): uh Turkey, ha ha ha ha ha ha
(Bygraves):...a food often stuffed.
(Bob Johnson):Turkey, ha ha ha ha ha ha
-
jhshifris, i too saw a few episodes of Kris Aquino's WOF and i too believe she's no Pat Sajak, Chuck Woolery, Bob Goen, or Rolf Benirshcke in other words she sucks "Bankrupt" and "Lose A Turn" spaces as host.
also her version of the bonus round is pretty much the same as our bonus round here in the states but instead of RSTLNE their version of the help letters are KSTLNE.
also if the filipino producers used the (1983-1986) Rules, set,it's "classic" logo, and it's "classic" Whammy animations and one host instead of two would it be successful in the philippines or would it fail also?
also thats ok for not knowing who the host(s) for the aussie version of Celebrity Squares and Personality Squares are because i'm sure as heck that i don't know either.
-
It would fail and the ones who hosted the Filipino Whammy are not the next Todd Newton. Aus. Press Your Luck had the same set that Peter's version had, it's on YouTube somewhere.
-
with Ian Turpie i presume jhshifris,
but sadly you would see clips of the (1987-1988) version as an anniversary special or news segment on Youtube for that matter
but i would like to see a full episode of the (1987-1988) aussie version of Press Your Luck with Ian Turpie someday
also i would like to see a full episode of the short-lived (1991-1992) british version of Press Your Luck with Paul Coia as host someday on Youtube as well
but in the meantime at least we got some full episodes of the German version of Press Your Luck(Gluck am Drucker) to watch on Youtube
also the original (1992) german version of Press Your Luck had a very similar set that Peter's version had as well (minus the Whammies of course)
also i agree with you that Mr. Bediones & Ms. Quinto are not the next Todd Newton.
