Does this also mean GSN can't even get more leases of episodes of classic game shows they have or want to add?

Not necessarily. GSN's just not offering any new original programming until the fall. This may be an indicator that GSN may be focusing on adding more episodes of classics, and/or John O'Hurley's final Family Feud season (with the Bullseye round) and/or another 21st century acquisition during this 8 or 9 month drought. GSN probably wants to deliver something good to the viewers and allow enough time to accumulate more revenue to air more original programming. But folks, take my theory with a grain of salt.

But I want more 1970's Match Game, Dawson Family Feud, Eubanks/Perry Card Sharks, and maybe a new classic like Tattletales added to GSN's leases of rotation! Maybe trade in the DWTS rights for their money back?

GSN still has 60 episodes left of Baggage to air, 28 episodes of The Newlywed Game, but no episodes of Catch 21. Hopefully GSN can air Sherri and Jerry soon again, but they'd have to advertise (on the network) or else regular viewers woundn't find out that there are new episodes

Snoozeville. GSN tried putting on antique school game shows only and it was hemorrhaging tens of millions of buckazoids per year. I know that the people here love their classics but the network cannot and will not survive on classics alone, especially ones that you can see on the schedule 90% of the time anyways. IIRC, Dawson Feud has never not been on the schedule and MG '7x has been on like during 15 or 16 years of GSN's run.

GSN has to take a chance and throw out some original programming or find more ways to cut costs. And they've already cut costs a lot. They can't live on old game shows alone, especially ones that have been played to the point over the last 18 years to where the tapes are wearing thin. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see classics, but if I'm going to watch a classic, how about ones we haven't seen in ages, like Go or Whew!, both shows that although short lived had a charm to them and didn't burn out on people.

There are tons of original game shows in other countries that certainly GSN could adapt to an American audience and make at least passable and it would keep the network fresh.

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21

Maybe the 90 episodes of Baggage can be put in syndication Fall 2012.

    I vote for this idea.

Also as a side note, I too want to see the 2009 season of O'Hurley get over here.

That could easily work. I do wonder what 4th quarter originals will bring us?

Apparently, they are resuming new episodes of Baggage and The Newlywed Game March 5th. That will spice things up.

Let's hope so. Some of GSN's viewers are tired on some of GSN's originals (mainly The Newlywed Game and Baggage). Within the next couple months, GSN should lease modern Family Feud, 1988-94, 94-95 Family Feud, and of course more classics! We haven't seen any leases for two to three years now.

But couldn't GSN strike a new Fremantle deal to get 100% classics rights back?

I'll answer that if you can tell me exactly what Fremantle is.

Greedy? Stupid? Both? They're not making any money with all the G-T and Grundy shows sitting locked in a vault somewhere.
