Dancing with the Stars - Another New Commercial

Have any of you guys seen the newest commercial for Dancing with the Stars on GSN? It starts off with clips of the program being shown, along with added dinging and buzzing noises. And then the announcer in the commercial says, "It's a great game show, even without all the bells and whistles." Unbelievable, isn't it? Just yet another attempt by the GSN executives to make everyone believe that DWTS is a game show, even though we all know that it is not a game show. Last-ditch effort at getting people to watch the program?

That's just all wrong and incorrect. Bells and whistles? Really? I have to see this.

I saw the commercial today and thought it was ridiculous.

It won't fool anyone. What do they take us for? Idiots?

Wow. The horror. Having the audacity to pull out all the stops to advertise a show they paid to air. How dare them stoop so low as to do that. :

Pzimm, it's not that they don't have the right to promote it. It's the deceptive way they do it. They insult the actual game shows on their channel by saying this is a game show. It isn't! They're reduced to deceiving people in an attempt to prop the show up. Pretty sad to see.

These posts are hilarious. Deception. Insulting other game shows. It's not Washington DC politics! It's a network trying to advertise a product they paid a lot of money for! A month ago it was how dare they show other game show hosts and people in commercial saying "GSN welcomes Dancing with the Stars" now it's this!

I think the point here is that they're trying to make it look like a game show, but it ISN'T. Can we all just agree that the ad isn't very good, period? It doesn't work, and I'm sure that the majority of the viewers will see right through it, or ignore it completely. It reads as desperation, with the abysmal ratings it has gotten. I'm sure this show would get a similar reaction if, say, ESPN (just an example) tried to show it. It's no more a "sports show" than it is a "game show." It's entertainment, and that's all it is.

Actually I'd just shake my head and say this is proof ESPN is way too full of itself adding stuff like this then go back to doing whatever it was I was doing. I wouldn't whine, gripe, and complain about every commercial they have run for the show and treat it like GSN execs broke into my house, assaulted us, and stole everything we have of any value. I don't know what any of you expect. Whether you like it or not, whether it's worked or not, they paid to air the show. They are going to advertise it however they feel they can in order to get viewers. Will this work? Doubt it. But it is what it is.

I find the DWTS promo pretty funny. Someone at the network must be reading these boards. Every message posted here about DWTS is about how it is NOT a Game, and it doesn't belong on here, and the new promo says: THIS IS A GAME and WELCOME TO GSN and how much it belongs on the network.

I haven't seen it because there's nothing on it I want to watch. I'd feel differently if new eps of MG were on but 3 or 4 times through watching the same episodes was enough.

I'm backing up some episodes of Baggage for my dad, since he likes this show, then I'll cut back my subscription until some more variety or different episodes of Classics are picked up.

I completely agree with you. It seems they are reading the boards and they are trying hard to convince us that this is a game show. I don't see how they can do this, because anyone with half a brain can see that it is not. Do they not realize that we do not care for this show and we do not watch it.

If you want more classics bad news. They are airing Dancing with the Stars again on Friday nights, so no more $100,000 Pyramid on week nights for now

DWTS is a game show? Okay, let's have the following game show hosts do their thing:

Gene Rayburn: "There'a a new show starring Brett and Charles, called 'Dancing with the Blanks.'"
Jerry Springer: "Stars: Please reveal your Baggage."
Sherri Shepherd: "Our bonus question is, 'My husband's blanking with the Stars, while I'm Dancing with Blank.'"
Monty Hall: "Would you like Dancing behind Door #1, or the Stars in the box that Jay Stewart has here?"
Tom Kennedy: "Dancing with the Stars? You Don't Say!"
