There's a lot of shows I'd *like* for them to air, but these are the ones that I think would do well for them:
Classics (90's on back):
Password Plus/Super Password
Press Your Luck (1985-86 episodes)
Let's Make a Deal (Hall)
Newlywed Game (Eubanks)
Blockbusters (Cullen)
The full run of $100,000 Pyramid (why not? the show still does very well for them)
Supermarket Sweep (I still say it's worth a shot in early afternoons)
Classic Concentration (NBC can't possibly see any harm in GSN airing the show at this point)
Modern shows:
Wheel of Fortune (2006-07 or later)
A newer season of Jeopardy!
Pyramid (Osmond)
Family Feud (Harvey's first and O'Hurley's last seasons)
Minute to Win It
Million Dollar Money Drop
Million Dollar Mind Game (hey, a lot of people probably didn't get to see it)
Who's Still Standing
And call me crazy, but it might be worthwhile for GSN to try airing some popular British game shows.
Yes
NO MORE DWTS PLEASE. It is not a gameshow.
GSN should require some of ABC's hit game shows, which have obviously been the best over the past decade. Jeopardy! Wheel of Fortune, and half hour Millionaire. NOT Wipeout thought
Concentration would be great. Would like to see Hollywood Squares again too.
Where have you been for the last decade and a half or so?
The majority of the successful game shows since 1999 were all adopted from British Game Shows -- Millionaire, The Weakest Link, Friend or Foe?, Minute To Win It, and a little show called Deal or No Deal. All of these shows were adopted from across the pond, and if not, they're adopted from other countries (Who's Still Standing was an Israeli game show and Russian Roulette originally aired in Russia, beating us by two months).
So I'm sorry but if you don't want to watch British game shows, you might as well give up watching them forever because that's where most of the successful shows came from. I say it's been working, we keep going with it. Get "The Chase" and "The Exit List" next.
Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21
Friend or Foe was successful? Well, two seasons on GSN, I guess. And it really didn't have a direct British ancestor like Millionaire and Weakest Link. Sure, it was based on the prisoner's dilemma as other shows were, but the particular format was GSN's. Deal or No Deal originated in Holland with Miljoenenjacht. Minute To Win It first aired in the U.S., then got sold around the world. I know some folks think it's a ripoff of the British Cube. I think they're both ripoffs of Beat the Clock. The majority of the successful game shows since 1999 were all adopted from British Game Shows -- Millionaire, The Weakest Link, Friend or Foe?, Minute To Win It, and a little show called Deal or No Deal.
But that's the way it is with game shows. Ideas get recycled all the time. Unless a show uses the same name and vitually the same format and is produced by the same outfit, it's hard to pin it down as a copy. Goodson-Todman made a ruckus over You Don't Say ripping off Password, but nothing really came of it except a shift in the position of the host's podium. When G-T got the original pitch for I've Got a Secret, Mark Goodson himself nailed it as a What's My Line ripoff. (Oddly, the shows diverged markedly over the years, as IGAS became more of a variety show.)
i got 2 things to say about this list SpeedAndStrategy:
1.) Press Your Luck (1985-86 episodes) also don't forget the (1983-84 episodes) as well too.
2.) Family Feud (Harvey's first and O'Hurley's last seasons) i'm fine by GSN acquiring O'Hurley's last season (with the short-lived return of the Bullseye round) but in my opinion Steve Harvey as a "Feud" host and his mannerisms even though it's getting the ratings it deserves is fake,a douchebag, and a sell-out and he's not that funny on the show (P-E-R-I-O-D) but i digress if you like him as a "Feud" host then i can't stop you from liking him but then again this is how i feel about him hosting on what is used to be one of the greatest classic game show franchises is now a sell-out to the african-american crowd.
I'd check your research, there Casey. Once again, you've missed on at least two regards.
First, there was a show in Britain called Shafted! which was the predecessor to Friend or Foe. It lasted a whopping four episodes. Actually, GSN took two shows from it. The other one being the uber-exciting "How Much Is Enough?".
Second, most of the stunts on The Cube are not timed. It's no more a copy than Who's Still Standing being a copy of Russian Roulette because they both have holes in the floor. There are enough stunts on there that it's a world different.
