My mother has had HCCL Luekemia for 6 years. I joined the Red Hats group to be with her - something her and I can do alone. So the 3rd Saturday of each month we have a luncheon together with the Red Hats. Today, I will be ready early and will go to Mom's house (which is next door) and dust and do some housework before we leave. Mom hasn't been feeling well and if I don't ask her if she needs anything (cause she always tells me no) and just go ahead and do it for her, she doesn't feel like she had to ask me to do anything for her. My mother is a wonderful women and I'll always be there for her!

My random act of kindness isn't necessarily random I guess. Iparticipate in a group called "freecycle" and this weelkend since the weather is so gorgeous here in the Cleveland Oh 'burbs, I will be listing and giving several large items that my family no longer uses but are in perfectly good shape for another family to enjoy.

I would also like to buy several thousand "Wag More, Bark Less" magnets and place them on cars here and there anonomously. What fun that would be!!

Random act of kindness is something done for someone we don't know and probably will never see again. I am a retail cashier and that gives me almost unlimited opportunity for random acts. Things like using the change in my pockets for some child that didn't think about paying taxes for the toy or candy bar they wanted to buy. My act yesterday was when a man was standing in a long line with two items while I was working self check which was not busy. He was looking over at the terminal very unsure. I waved him over told it was easy and walked him through the process. He was done before the customer at the front of the line he was in had completed their transaction. For those of you who are at a loss for an act of kindness tell management about the employee who assisted you or at least compliment them. You've no idea how wonderful that feels. I know that when that happens for me, it is not because I gave exceptional customer service, it is because I served and exceptional customer.

When you go to the gas station to pump your gas, pay for the person's gas next to you at the pump!

I don't understand why it is complicated to enter this forum directly from the link on the home page. That said, I don't know about today or this weekend ... but ... I enter all the contests daily, and have for months, with PCH. It would be wonderful to win a big prize I could share with family and friends who are in need. I would put a little jingle in my jeans, then pretend I was Bill Gates. As for GSN, there is no bingo for me to win and share over the weekend. I do play that every day now, starting this month, where two people have already won. I would share anything I won with others. In the words of Glen Campbell, "Try A Little Kindness."

When we decided to move back to Missouri 8 years ago, I asked the Lord to put me where I would be a benefit to others in my area. We bought a house out in the country. We only have a few neighbors, but they are within a 4 mile area. Some of these people I either knew them or their family member when we lived in the St. Louis area over 35 years ago. But my closest neighbors were both in their 80's. The one closest was still able to do a lot for herself and only needed a friend and someone to visit with.

My neighbor two houses up could not do very much and was very ill. She recovered from cancer cancer and then contracted bone cancer. I took her out to eat (I was still able to drive at the time) and I would drive up to her house and visit with her and take her home made meals each day. She was a wonderful women and she passed away a couple of years ago. Her two daughters lived quite a distance from her, 1 in a small town about 200 miles from here and another lived in California. They thanked me when she passed and told me that I had made her life a lot easier. I also was told that they didn't worry as much as I was there for her.

I have to tell you though that I received much more from our friendship than I gave. I had made a wonderful friend and it was such a privilege to have known her. I loved her dearly and was very sad when she died. My other neighbor is also very wonderful and I love her dearly. I can't get out anymore and I really miss visiting with them.

My neighbor that is still alive is now 90 and doing pretty well for her age. They have given me such joy. I have made many friends in this area and love them all.

My best friend is down with a sinus infection. I would like to go and cook her dinner, clean her house for her, and take her dogs out so she can get a good sleep or rest and not worry about anything. Sometimes we all need a good pampering when we are down.

I like to plant a few extra beds of vegetables in my garden and bring them to the local farmers markets. There I put up a sign stating we accept Snap vouchers (ie. Food Stamps) Then when people attempt to buy veggies from us with vouchers we just donate the produce instead...as long as they are nice It's our way of helping to feed the poor since we do not make enough money to donate cash and the local food banks will not accept homegrown food.

Our community is small but there is always some family that is down and out at Christmas so my sister and I fix up a box of food to fix Christmas dinner and a box with some toys and clothes for the family and leave it on the door step or porch so that they have Christmas. It is fun knowing that the only thing they can tell the kids is that Santa does exist!
I also like to go down a street and pay the parking meters for all cars parked there.

I go to church every sunday and sing specials, also I go to our local nursing home, and sing there for the people. Im always willing to give a person a handup, I show kindness to the homeless when I get a chance.I do all of these things and expect nothing in return. I have my health and that is a blessing. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

A random act of kindness that most of us could do is to collect one of those stray shopping carts and push it into the store before we start our shopping. At the checkout, if the person behind us has less than we do, let them go ahead of us. And some of us might be on the receiving end of a "random act" this weekend...so have a 'random' smile and a thank you ready, LOL.
