The producers have control over that. If they say to the contestants before the show to not do that, they won't (or its just assumed). Just like you'd act differently at a black-tie event than at a bar with your friends. Chuck's LINGO had very few sexual references (and none so blatent), and its because there was more class in the show then.

It's not Bill's fault, but it's the producers who write the jokes and the clues. If Lingo producers didn't write those bad jokes, then Bill wouldn't say them

The new Lingo would also need a new opening, similar to the one Chuck's later seasons had. It would be better than Bill's "jokes" at the beginning of every episode.

It IS fair. A trailing team needs to catch up in the third round if their opponents are way ahead. That's why the 3rd round should be $500 per word, with no limits to the words until time runs out.

OK. I was just thinking about, like on The Newlywed Game if one couple does well in the first two rounds and then another couple gets 30 points in the bonus round, that could be ruled unfair. But then again, it's just a game

My view is, if every round of a game show was worth the same amount, then there would be far fewer opportunities for contestants to catch up. And once someone is mathematically eliminated, there's no reason to watch anything else until the bonus round, if any. Two shows where people were basically eliminated early: PYL/Whammy (the third-place contestant), and "The Big Showdown" with Jim Peck.

In most bowling leagues, three games are bowled between teams. One point is given out for winning each game, plus one for total pins. (Sorry if I sound like Shandi here.) So even if a team wins the first two games, they might finish the night with a 2-2 draw. Of course, this always affects the standings, but it gives every team a better chance to make the post-season.

I'm starting to agree with these ideas.

What's going to happen to Engvall Lingo?

Now that GSN is introducing four real game shows (Newlywed Game season 6, Beat the Chefs, American Bible Challenge, and $100,000 Pyramid) and then five reality shows, will Bill Engvall's Lingo ever be renewed for a second season? GSN is seeing high ratings with the show at midnight, 2:30pm and Sunday nights. And the show airs 12 times a week, and gets the some of the highest numbers in daytime. GSN shouldn't be producing so many reality shows and should focus on game shows more.

    Anyone agree with me?

Keep in mind that only the new Newlywed Game season and Beat the Chefs have been officially greenlighted. We've seen upfronts like this before that had a lot of "non-traditional" shows in development, and most of them wouldn't make it to air.

Still, I don't see Engvall Lingo getting renewed, and honestly I'm hardly losing sleep over it.

don't forget that reboot of Pyramid and the Bible Quiz Show hosted by Jeff Foxworthy that was in the mix too.

Too bad. Lingo's first season was mainly a hit for GSN.
