Question How Well Would Two GSN Channels work?

Hello fellow GSN fans! I am new to the boards and am Chris. I found Game Show Network back in 1998 while channel surfing and found a channel with a "really different looking Price is Right and younger Bob Barker" episode playing. Waited for the copyright date and saw it was from 1982 and saw the other shows and was hooked! :P Watching this network at the time got me through a rough time! Thanks GSN!

I was wanting your opinon on something. Other cable networks have been around awhile and have spun off two and three other channels for programs and wonder could GSN do the same? After reading some of the other posts and such about less and less classics on GSN and missing the good old days, I do not know if this has been talked about before but since GSN has matured greatly and has ALOT of rich, funny, and important material (Revivals, Originals, two Millionares, three and four versions of Pyramid, two Newlyweds, ability to air WoF and Jeopardy 21st centry, etc...) Could this be a solution: Two Channels? GSN Classic and GSN Modern? Here's how it could work:

    GSN CLASSIC: 1950s- 1990s
    B+W shows
    Goodson-Todman (FreeMantle)
    Barry-Ernright
    Chuck Barris Productions
    Pyramids
Future classic they might air (1986 Press Your Luck)

    GSN MODERN: 2000s onward
    Millionaires
    Donnymid
    Lingo
    Catch 21
    Baggage
    Friend or Foe?
    Russian Roulette
    Future "current"
    21st century WoF and Jeopardy!

This way you can give the classics back without wasting the material they have created. What do you guys think? I think this would work and I would watch both channels, but please keep DWTS off lol! Any other suggestions? Thanks and GSN FTW!

    Could it work? Possibly.

Will Sony want to do it? Nope; they are major proponents of the philosophy of "Spend as little as possible to achieve maximum profit". Besides, with the way Dancing will sabotage the budget, they won't even suggest such a thing for years to come, if ever.

Hello Chris , I give you HI FI on that because there has been some talks about what if there was a second GSN Channel just for all classics and it sounds nice . I wish there was one because I miss all of Gene Rayburn's Match Game shows and I am sort of tired of going round circles with Half of Match Game 74 and 75 . I would like to see a return all Match Game shows starting with Match Game 76 tru 79 and onto the Syndication Vesrions and PM too . Keep your thumbs and hope for the best .

rlrshepherdstown, I also want to see some more Match Game instead of what GSN has now and I mentioned that because I record it.

You forgot Grundy that Fremantle owns, Scrabble and Sale Of The Century can be on GSN Classic.

Thanks bro! ALOT of other cable/sat channels have 3+ channels. Since GSN's library has grown and will grow (adding 1986 PYL and maybe obtaining rights for Minute to Win It from NBC Universal for example) the 1986 PYL will go on the classic and MtWI will go to the Modern channel. This is the my most favorite channel of all and thought i'd pitch an idea

The idea will work out but GSN has to get the rights to the old ones again first.

Ya... And to obtain the new Lets Make a Deal would be a pain too... Let's see that's CBS, FremantleMedia, and good ole' Monty Hall? Or does FM include Hatos-Hall? I say GSN would not be able to make a DEAL on that one in the future...

I doubt it would work GSN gets lower ratings compared to other cable networks as is. It would just be great if GSN programming time from 8am-4am was 70% classics (8am-4pm, 10pm-4am), and the rest originals.

At least GSN is not considering at 24/7 DWTS network

Don't give 'em any ideas lol... That idea is good too. However if they did create two, they could put infomercials on it as well after hours to fund it as well... They just have too much stuff! Just like there are 40+ years of NFL Material et al, GSN-GSN Classic= ESPN-ESPN Classic (which is great). But game shows aren't as, up there, as NFL tho .

That could work when GSN gets more shows to air, classics and modern
