This weekend, I tried out a new ski area in Pennsylvania. I had never been to Shawnee before, even though it is near another ski area that I have been many times. Though it is on a small mountain, it was enjoyable, especially the jumps in the terrain park. And since it was Friday, no waiting in lines.

I remember my parents playing cards, Yahtzee, or we would all play board games like Monopoly, I think I'll dust off a board game & go OLD SCHOOL, no electricity needed

I am planning to take my mom to Paris soon because I have never been there before. While I am there I plan to do what the French do, whatever that is. That should be different and fun.
I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue.

Have you hugged an Idiot today? Me either, come here

    I don't discriminate - I'm an equal-opportunity hugger.

Thank you all for posting, and for your patience. Everyone had great ideas to switch up the 'same old stuff!" If you feel like it, share how it went, and would you do it again?

Congratulations to our 15 random winners of 500 Oodles each:

Nightingale57: I would like to do something different from the usual 'Old Stuff'. Usually it is always saving up a part of the salary to buy a piece of jewellery, dress, shoes, cosmetics and perfumes or an expensive electronic gadget but this time I am gonna save up a part of my salary as savings for the 'less fortunate people of this world.' My list of the less fortunate will include the orphans, the blind, the deaf and dumb and the sick. I will donate this savings once I collect a decent amount.

chengsta125: Instead of spending my Saturday afternoons watching TV, I just signed up to volunteer at the local soup kitchen during this time. In with the new, and out with the old!

    lilmisslawyer:
I'm going to go see the movie my boyfriend wants to see instead of the one I want to see.

KIWIFRUITS: Well this weekend I'll try "something new"...they say, "Don't knock it...if you haven't tried it..." So I'm going to "eat a piece of Sushi and order my Steak...Medium-Rare..." Truly the thought of both makes me a tad queasy...LOL...but I'm going to give it a shot...So then...I really can "knock it...if I tried it...and I don't like it." LOL

stewie3md: I think to get away from the "old stuff", I'll shave my head this weekend, I have a less than perfect hairline as it is and getting rid of what is left would be a vast improvement!

    squishmar:
My something different is to actually HELP my husband with us moving this weekend. I need to pack up where we are and I've been saying this for weeks... so this weekend, I'm ACTUALLY GOING TO DO IT. I'll also try something new by THROWING OUT STUFF I don't need or use or love. Those are the keys: Need it (like a birth certificate); Use it (like a remote control); or Love it (applies to everything else... keepsakes, clothes, souvenirs, collectibles). And moving into the new house will be automatically something new I'll be doing this weekend!

loisem: Something I already do is when I go to a buffet style restaurant I try something that I have never tried before, I have found a lot of new favorites that way. But this weekend to do something new, I'm gonna create a new meal at home, I'm gonna see what I have on hand and see what I can create, if it turns out good, great, if not the outside wildlife can have it. It's a win win situation! p.s. my grandsons tried something new last night, they had a Squishy Baff, which is this stuff you put in the bath water to turn the water into a goo. They loved it! Their mom got it for them at Walmart if you want to be brave and try your own Squishy Baff, who knows maybe I'll try one. lol

kidsbugme: Ive decided we're going to do "backwards" weekend!! Something diffrent, we're going to do everything opposite than we do in a typical day. Here is what our weekend will consist of: Instead of sleeping inside the house, were going to sleep in the RV (were gonna make a campout out of it and the kids are super excited). We are going to have dinner for breakfast. And breakfast for dinner!!!!!!! We're gonna have a great time!!!!! Thanks for the idea of switching things up!!!

    karenklav:
I plan on hitting the treadmill and excercise equipment as soon as I get home from work, instead of saying that I am tired!!!!

watkinsnancy76: National Old Stuff Day - I change an old personal behavior of drinking wine each and everyday. On Friday March 2, 2012, which was my birthday also, I nolonger drink wine everyday. Today is my third day and doing well changing old habits was a great idea. Enjoy

smiless4onlyu: i am a working mom of a litte one.. My hubby works too, so when i get home i feel the need to clean and pay attention to the 2 of them.. I am the kind of gal who has to have the house nice and clean all the time and i have to be dressed and happy.. lol well gsnangel i told my hubby that i was taking your advice and doing something different.. So this morning he took my 4 month old with him to his buds to watch games and take care of baby.. So instead of cleaning on my day off i am pampering ME not getting dressed, no cleaning couch and junk food for me today.. note on door says shhh mommy being pampered come back tommorrow! Thanks gsnangel for the idea... I need this!

pyromaniacco5: I already do this, and I think its good for others to do also. When I was a kid and went out to eat somewhere, my dad would pick up the check for a person in the restaurant. The person was usually an elderly person eating alone. I started doing this for people also. I think It would be great for others to keep this kind act going. Its only 5 to 10 dollars, and it works anywhere from Mcdonnalds to Red Lobster. Quit the old routine of sitting and staring at the elderly person in the corner and do something nice for them by buying them their 5 dollar senior citizens meal.

chattykatie012: i am a nurse and i headed to ky to help with all that happened with the tornadoes in that area, have a few days off from work, and since hospital was demolished gonna help with the groups going around to make sure everone gets medical help that needs it.

XxwordgirlxX: This weekend I switched from being a meat chomper to a vegetable lover. I have had a back and forth relationship with meat since 2010. My attempts to be a vegetarian have easily failed. WHO CAN RESIST A MEDIUM RARE STEAK?! But this time, I promised myself to fight my pig and cow cravings.....having to lower your blood pressure helps too....I am hoping to keep up my plant loving diet for the rest of my life. Who knows? maybe I will end up hating all meat products. Besides, I'll be able to welcome back my old food favorites (a bowl of pasta and oven roasted vegetables.)

sweetypie1010: my new thing for today was going from blonde long hair my entire life until i decided to go and cut 6 inches off and dye my hair black with little white blonde streaks everywhere thanks for the inspiration guys i should try to change it up more often definitly life changing

GSNAngel...Thank you for the Oodles...For an update...LOL..."the piece of Sushi I tried...wasn't very good to me...ugh...had a slight fishy taste and smell. My friends told me that Sushi shouldn't be like that...so I'm going to give it another try...@ a different restaurant...just in case...LOL" Now for trying my Steak (Medium-Rare)...wasn't too good either...LOL...once again...I think it was more "Rare" than Medium-Rare...you know how "the done scale" for chefs can vary widely...so I'll give it another chance @ a different restaurant...everyone I know "swears by"...Medium-Rare...I've always been a "Medium to Medium-Well type of guy"...but I'm not "knockin' either one"........yet... LOL.......Thanks again for all you do for "All" the GSN Players.

Ah, yes sushi should not be fishy. I was always suspicious of it too until a few years ago, then tried it and fell in love with it. I hope you find it more to your liking next time!

Thanks GSNAngel for a great game of old stuff day. Even though I did not win, I still want to say that I would do the same
new things over and over again from my vacation at New Port Beach. My dad and I see the ocean from
our Marriot's hotel balcony and it's awesome there over the horizon. It's cool there, even from the milk shake shack that
I watched the ocean waves from there. And the food was amazing despite encountering new places there. Koto Sushi
is the best place for my dad and I to go there. We been there 3 times and it's excellent. I will never forget this and we will come back here again.

I am not brave enough to take my two kittens out for a walk on the leash, again! I felt guilty leaving my dog at home while I tried walking them instead. And I advise anyone else who tries to walk their own cats on the leash to first look around outside your home for any other cats that are NOT on a leash, before bringing your own leashed-cat outside! That is all.

    Dear GSNAngel:

It was alot of fun. I enjoyed reading them all. I'd like to do it again. And, Kiwifruits needs to try sushi again, LOL.

  13. #103
Yeah for the oodles I won!! But I came here to specifically find out about KIWIFRUITS' experience with sushi...and I have to offer a slightly differing opinion from Angel and Kiwi's friends... it is RAW FISH, after all... so yes, there will always be a slight "fishy taste and smell." I eat sushi about 3 times a week and it's (obviously) one of my favorite kinds of foods. Question for KIWI: Do you eat cooked fish at all? Do you like it? If you go to a Japanese restaurant next time, order the sea eel... it's not raw and it's a good "beginner" sushi. LOL. Yellowtail is also great... and put lots of wasabi (the green hot stuff) in the soy sauce you dip in. Yum. Now I need some sushi!!

Glad to see these results up... I was getting worried about Angel but someone on the boards had reassured me you were all right. Thanks for another fun game!

I STILL haven't moved. I guess this weekend will be the one. I may be offline for a few days before we get our Internet connection hooked up (and cable too)... lucky for me, I'm also a big reader and I'm reading an 1,100 page book right now so I won't be quite so lost.

Yes...I love all kinds of fresh/saltwater fish...cooked many different ways. Another friend was telling me to go to a Japanese restaurant (the Sushi is always fresh there)...I'll do that & the "sea eel"...hmmm...interesting...I'll check on that also...(Love all kinds of Seafood)...Thanks for the tip!
