Minor schedule changes starting week of March 26th

The pdf's for the week of March 26-April 1 note the following changes. As always, we've seen the pdf's have been unreliable in the past but this is what they're saying right now.

    *Monday nights Karn/O'Hurley will be switched up. Karn's airings will be 7:00, 7:30, 10:00 and 10:30pm. O'Hurley is up to 6 airings Mondays at 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 11:00 and 11:30pm.

*Power of 10 disappears from the GSN schedule. It will be replaced by Deal or No Deal Saturdays at 1pm.

*Also note the reason Power of 10 is leaving GSN is because GSN had a one year lease with the show from CBS. GSN leased it right before "Improv" premiered in 2011.

Oh well, I enjoyed Power of 10. I wish it lasted longer on CBS. It would be nice if GSN could remake that game show. I wouldn't mind seeing that remade on GSN. I'm glad about Family Feud getting switched up. O'Hurley is my favorite version but, I like both.

Didn't even notice the minor changes when I posted the new pdf at the blog. Guess I have to review them more carefully from now on.

But as the o.p. noted, never trust the pdfs!

That's when GSN started to air this, and then went through rerun abuse.

So you don't know this for sure, and are just assuming it. Don't state something as a fact if you don't know it to be true.

Apparently, GSN leased the show around that time in late March 201. It's more exact than what we know about the classic leases.

We don't know anything about GSN's leases except what has been publicly disclosed, like the press release for Dancing With the Stars. If people want to give their opinions about the leases, fine. Just label them as opinions, not facts supported by any reliable evidence.

    Agreed.

Not really surprised. I've been saying they want to reduce the number of shows, so this fits right in. I'm not a huge Deal fan, but knowing the network MO, this is right in line.

It's not like ratings were a problem here. Power of 10 was one of the shows that has done well on weekends from 12-2pm, next to Million Dollar Password and 1 vs. 100. All those shows every week would usually still get 250 to 300K+. That's not bad for the rerun abuse of those shows.

Past five weeks of Power of 10, Million Dollar Password and 1 vs. 100 ratings (when the shows aired only 1-2 time a week)
    Power of 10: 197K; 322K; 329K; 207K; 260K
    1 vs. 100: 225K; 250K; 229K; 213K; 288K
Million Dollar Password: 325K; 338K; 368K; 320K; 283K (I think this is a hint for GSN to purchase Super Password, Password Plus type shows, and more Pyramid)

On these boards the solution is usually to get more old stuff (code word: "variety"). But maybe the really good numbers for 5th Grader and even Million Dollar Password, not to mention Karn and O'Hurley Feud or Deal or No Deal, indicate GSN should get recent game shows that have enjoyed some success. Like Harvey Feud, Minute To Win It, the last few years of Wheel, etc. Hey, Wipeout is collecting huge (by GSN standards) numbers in reruns on truTV.

You're right. The more recent game shows have done better. It's more ingrained in their minds than most of the "classics" demanded on here.

We've been saying this for a while. We've seen the modern game show acquisitions do well in the past couple years. But it makes me wonder? Should GSN keep producing there own originals, or become a network like TBS or TV Land that only acquires rights to shows and doesn't really make there own?
