This isn't GSN's fault. Sometimes they can't help this, if the tape was damaged in the first place.

I don't see how a damaged tape could cause audio-video synch issues. Usually synching issues are the result of improperly digitally muxing the video stream and audio stream separately, which would be introduced during the transfer from analog tape to digital format.

It just happens over the years. The tapes are old

Yeah, the age of tapes is really one of the main reasons for the sync issues. Sorry, but that is a bunch of nonsense, and you know it.

Audio and video being out of sync has nothing to do with tape damage. You don't know what you're talking about.

    *I* wasn't gonna say it.

You've got to be kidding me. Not this again

Then what else could possibly be the cause? The only answer here is tape damage from tapes that are 30+ years old from the original network/syndication company

Just the fact that GSN made an error with the audio & visual sync! What else? Just accept it. The problem anything BUT tape damage.

Today's episode is on, and the audio & visual is just fine.

I noticed a blip at the beginning of Super Password today, after Bert and the celebrities were introduced. Maybe it was just my TV

But I'm starting to like Password Plus a lot more than Super Password now, and I really like Allen as the host

Just a heads up. On today's SP, Bert said it was a Friday show. Actually, it was a Monday show, because of the Challenger disaster, which pre-empted Tuesday. They made up for this by taping 4 episodes with Patty Duke & Nathan Cook a month later.

And no, I don't know if Bert ever acknowledged it or not, or if any other game shows were affected by it (I know The Price is Right, Card Sharks, Press Your Luck, and $25,000 Pyramid on CBS weren't affected by it).

I was just watching, and I noticed he said Friday, but didn't know anything about what you mentioned above.

Did GSN skip a couple episodes of Super Password, or were there not some since there were holidays back then, where new episodes wouldn't have been aired

I noticed that too. So I wonder if that means that the Thursday show was skipped by GSN? (which would have originally aired on Friday Jan 31 1986) That's a bummer if they did. Yesterday's SP GSN airing said it was a Wednesday (which would have originally aired on a Thursday.)

I think you misread my post. No episodes from this week that just ended were skipped over by GSN. What happened was during the original run on NBC, because of the challenger disaster, Tuesday's episode had to be preempted and air on a Wednesday.

    January 27, 1986 (#0347)
    January 29, 1986 (#0348)
    January 30, 1986 (#0349)
    January 31, 1986 (#0350)
    February 3, 1986 (#0351)

I think you misread MY post. Yesterday, Bert said it was a Wednesday (#0349)...today, Bert said it was a Friday (#0351). Remember, at taping time, they didn't know the pre-emption was going to occur. The episode that was taped intended to be shown on Thursday (#0350) was skipped.

But didn't the previous week of shows on GSN (Jenilee Harrison & Marty Cohen) begin on a Thursday and end on a Wednesday?
