    The Password is.... Back!

I thought this deserved a new thread since the other one is.. ugh. The PDF's are up and Zap2it.com was right, Password Plus and Super Password are returning April 2nd. Password Plus will start from the very beginning with Allen shouting "Password's Back, Password's Back"! Super Password will start from Christmas 1985 with Gary Burghoff and Jamie Farr as the celebs.

As for the other classics, they all stay the same. Match Game continues in 1974-'75 and Dawson continues in 1980. The $25,000 Pyramid stays in the '85-'86 season as well. Flashback Fridays also sees The $25,000 Pyramid taking that slot.

Yay! Password Plus and Super Password is coming back!!! I'll be recording those.

Well, it makes me wonder why they're starting Super Password from Christmas 1985? Could it be because sometime in the limited run, there was a $55,000 win in the end game?

And I'm surprised GSN is continuing the 1985-86 season of $25K Pyramid for a while longer. Makes me wonder if GSN's lease to air that version of Pyramid is almost the same as the lease to air the 2001-2002 season of Jeopardy! a few years back?

    My 1000th Post

Kinda disappointed Match Game 74 stays, but good to see Ludden back for a while. Can't wait to see the earlier episodes again.

Oh, I can't access the PDF's on my iPod touch. Are the Latenight episodes the same as Latenights?

One thing I noticed from reading into the new PDF files is regarding the 25k Pyramid daytime slot. For the week of April 2, GSN will be airing episodes 973-977. Then the following week April 9, they will air episodes 828-832.

Reason I bring this up is because the last time they got to episode 977(which is the last show in the package of episodes they have), they went back to 771, the start of the 85-86 season. Here is the PDF from June 2011 that shows them going from episode 977 back to 771. I just think it is a little odd that they are not going back to 771 on April 9, they are starting from episode 828. Its not a huge deal, but is it possible that they no longer have airing rights to episodes 771-827? I know, it sounds like an oddball theory on my part, but why would they start with 828 after airing 977?

As far as the rest of the schedule, good to see that Zap2it was right about the Passwords coming back. I’m guessing its 200 episodes of each, but who knows? Maybe they might get a little more for Super Password, since it had a longer run. Also, regarding the late night showings for the Passwords, GSN will be airing the same episodes at night as they do during the day. It is not like when Card Sharks came back 2 years ago, the night episodes started at episode 100, and the daytime shows were from the beginning. An example, Password Plus at 10am will be episode #1, and the 2:30am show will also be episode #1. Fine by me. I'm just glad they are back. And I'm fine with Dawson Feud and Match Game staying where they are, since I still haven't seen the majority of the episodes they have for those shows.

The Overnight 25K pyramid and password shows will be the same as those aired in the morning, which is very convenient for me. I am happy they will air the Tom Poston episode in which he and his wacky partner got a $0 in the bonus round, since GSN removed the 25K pyramid in January just a few episodes before that historic event occured.

I am curious where Super Password was when GSN pulled it at the end of 2009?

Kinda disappointing that we aren't getting different episodes of other shows. Makes me wonder if they're just re-leasing the same episodes. But hey, I'm happy that classic Password is officially back.

Yeah, I had thought about that too, that they would be re-leasing the episodes again. But I fine with that, since I still haven't seen most of the episodes of Match Game and Dawson Feud that they have the rights to. I really haven't had as much time to watch TV as I once did, so yeah I haven't seen a lot of the MG and FF episodes. I just don't see how some people can watch all 400? or however many episodes they have right now, but I don't want to start another argument.

Super Password and Password Plus are the best two game shows GSN could acquire right now. This is looking good here.

It sure is especially when the schedule can use some more changes.

The only thing wrong with the schedule right now is Dancing with the Stars on Sundays, and Engvall Lingo on 12 times a week starting March 26th.

    Crossposted from the ugh thread...

Password Plus starts from the debut episode, when I think there were six clues per word, not four. Elizabeth Montgomery and Robert Foxworth are the celebs. Super Password starts from November 1985, best as I can figure from IMDb. Jamie Farr and Gary Burghoff play a M*A*S*H reunion the week of April 2-8. Then Pat Sajak shows up with Nipsey Russell the week of April 9-15. I think the original weeks for those shows were November 11, 1985 and November 18, 1985...if IMDb is to be believed.

Do you know if both airings will be the same episodes, or will they start the overnight one in the middle of the set?
