Pyramid vs. Password: which classic word-communication game show do you like better?

both shows were created by Bob Stewart.

both uses a contestant/celebrity style play.

both had crazy incarnations up the wahzoo.

    and let's not forget that...

both made Dick Clark and Allen Ludden (respectfully) a household name.

but which of these classic word-communicated game shows do you like better?

    is it Pyramid or Password

I have not seen Password/Super Password/Password Plus yet believe it or not, which is why I'm so happy GSN is bringing it back. For now, I'll have to say Pyramid because I like Dick Clark. If we're talking about all word association games, then Lingo and Chain Reaction should be on this poll, or another one.

The Password saga (with Password Plus being my favorite). A lot more simpler than Pyramid. Just one word at a time. Allen Ludden did a good job handling all incarnations he hosted. Very excited to see Password Plus back.

I do like Pyramid as well. Just a slight expansion of Password's gameplay. Although Password's bonus round was a lot less stricter though.

Pyramid was the show I was more exposed to as a kid, which makes me partial to it. I personally think that the Winner's Circle is the best game show bonus round ever created. You want to keep the audience entertained and focused on what is happening, and the tension within those 60 seconds made for some of the most exciting moments in game show history. The $100,000 tournaments made for some challenging games, too, which showed who the really good game players were.

Password is a great show, too. I sometimes felt that the rules were bent a little too much, but with the limit of only one word clues, it made the game that much more challenging to anybody who played. With the 1970s All-Star format, you really got to see who the good players were. For the kind of words that they were given sometimes (chlorophyll?), it really made for exciting game play. What is great about both shows is that they both stand up pretty well over time, and they are well-known among most people old and young.

The $100,000 Pyramid was harder than the $25,000 Pyramid. There were more $25,000 winners than $100,000 Pyramid. We'll see how GSN takes the $100,000 Pyramid. Hopefully the contestants are smart too, and it won't go down the hill like Engvall Lingo.

all though Lingofan97 those are good game shows, i thought that Pyramid and Password were the most strongest franchises ever; and that's why i wanted to put them head to head with each other and besides both of them were created by Bob Stewart (of course Chain Reaction is too but i don't want to use that for this battle.)

except Super Password which was hosted by the late Bert Convy from 1984-1989 on NBC and Million Dollar Password which was hosted by Regis Philbin from 2008-2009 on CBS.

Strangest also means they were one of the most successful franchises ever too.
