    GSN Ratings March 12-18

    http://sonofthebronx.blogspot.com/20...2-18-2012.html

More of the same here. Feud, 5th Grader, and The Newlywed Game ruled the top 10. In the top 20, Whammy! managed to get up to number 19 on Saturday morning at 10:00am with 301,000 viewers. The top 25 saw The $100,000 Pyramid revived itself after that disastrous week it had a couple of weeks ago. It made two spots in the top 25 with 298,000 and 295,000 viewers respectively. Dancing didn't show up on the list until number 57 with 261,000 viewers for its Saturday, 9:00pm slot. The rest of its airings bottomed out all the way down to a horrifying 54,000 viewers at 2:00pm on a Sunday Afternoon.

I also noticed that, despite being up against TPIR on Friday that week, Eubanks' Card Sharks had viewership in the 236,000 range. Maybe those viewers know the end is nearing and they want to watch and record it now while they have a chance.

Other than that, Card Sharks at 11:00 a.m. had viewership as low as 97,000. But the lowest rated Card Sharks overall had viewership in the 94,000 range and it was a Jim Perry-hosted episode.

Sat 6pm to 7pm Dancing getting 150k is horrifying too. It got 1 airing above 200k. What a disaster getting that show was.

100k Pyramid Friday marathon did pretty well. Almost all its airings 280k or higher. Not spectacular, but good for a show that should cost pennies to lease compared to the other shows. 6 of the top 34 ratings were the Friday Pyramid marathon. Not bad considering according to some "classics will never work in primetime". GSN held that view for years.

I'd like to see Super PW and PW Plus try out a marathon in primetime. I think the numbers would be even higher than Pyramids.

I can already imagine the ratings flying for sure when Steve Harvey comes to town.

Hahahahhaaha! Dancing With The Stars had FIVE spots in the bottom 10 and The Sherriwed Game had two additional slots. Just more proof that GSN's big "Bread and butter" shows are more like turds and urine.

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21

No surprises, once again. I'll be more interested to see what happens when Harvey Feud gets started.

You have a point about DWTS, but Newlywed Game? Those shows came on at 3:00 AM and 3:30 on Sunday morning. Those five Top 25 slots are much more telling.

    From the blog...

Douglas Pucci posts another set of GSN viewer numbers for the March 12-18 week. I can see why they're shaking things up. It was another bad week with 276K/214K prime time/total day averages.

Saturday Dancing with the Stars- 153K (????????)
Small correction, though it doesn't make much difference. In the comparable 6:00PM-11:00PM period, DWTS averaged 212K.

Sunday 5th Grader- 325K (lower than usual, but still kicks butt)
Actually, 300K for the Sunday 6:00PM-11:00PM block. The Friday 3:00PM-6:00PM block averaged 268K, which is pretty good compared to its usual numbers. The Friday block disappears this week, of course.

Wednesday Baggage- 194K (Harvey Feud, anyone?)
To give Jerry a bit of credit, the Wednesday and Thursday first-runs averaged 259K. A long way from the 500K and 600K glory days, though.

259K is still poor for new episodes of anything (except DWTS). And I'm also surprised 5th Grader did so poorly on Sunday, March 18th, especially with the only million dollar episode being shown.

There are no new episodes of DWTS on GSN. The new eps on ABC do a lot better than 259K. Like 18 million or so.

If GSN could get the truly new episodes of Dancing With the Stars instead of ABC, this network's problems would be a lot more manageable.

The episodes are still new to GSN. We see double those numbers at times for 5th Grader. But this week, 5th Grader had a very down week.

But what's your opinion of Dancing with the Stars' low Sunday ratings, now as low at 54K-100K?

Simple. Get rid of the Sunday showings. Give DWTS a five or six hour block on Saturday with no same day repeats. In other words, give it the same treatment as Harvey Feud.

They still need to apparently air it less often with as abysmal a performance as a five-digit viewership. Ditch DWTS and start airing Sherriwed game less often. I find it interesting that reruns of Family Feud, which have 8 spots in the top 25 are beating the pants off of it. And 5th Grader also has five slots. But that schedule is good proof of why I don't watch a lot of GSN anymore. They are limited to airing less than 20 different shows. Seriously? That sucks. I remember when you would see a show a maximum of once or twice a day, and GSN had a much wider variety of programs on.

And the ambient temperature of Hell would decrease to -159.86° Fahrenheit. Do you really think that GSN would be willing to fork over the heavy license fees that would be required to air a first run episode? Similarly, your explication has another fatal flaw. ABC is seen all over this country. GSN is visible to maybe 20% of that audience. There's no way they would ever get enough viewers to offset the gargantual costs that it would bring.

On your first point, I agree they need to reduce DTWS and Newlywed Game's airings, and add at least a few more shows to liven things up. That said, it'll never happen.

As to point #2; Casey might be proposing that scenario assuming that all things were equal (which, as you said, they aren't). I agree more with you, though; Dancing would be finished if it ever aired first-run on GSN.
