5 shows that GSN should acquire in 2012

Modern acquisitions and classics have worked out well for GSN, especially looking at 5th Grader, Family Feud and Deal or No Deal. There are three particular classics and two newer game shows that could work on GSN's schedule now.

    Classics
*Card Sharks (Eubanks, Perry- different seasons)
    *Family Feud (Combs)
    *Love Connection (Woolery)

    Modern
*Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (2009-10, 2010-11)
    *Jeopardy! (2008-09 or 2009-10)

    *Family Feud (Combs)
    *Love Connection (Woolery)
Um, GSN tried Love Connection, and it bombed miserably. And Combs just doesn't work in ratings.

They definitely shouldn't have taken Card Sharks off. But Combs' Feud, as much as I love it, didn't do that well last time it was on the schedule, and nowadays Dawson doesn't even do so well. And I'd definitely have to pass on Love Connection.

If they were going to get any other classics besides Card Sharks, I'd say that Press Your Luck, Monty's Let's Make a Deal, and Eubanks Newlywed Game would be the best bets. Maybe Cullen Blockbusters - or, if they could get their hands on it, Classic Concentration. And more seasons of Match Game and Pyramid would also be nice. But I'm not betting on any of this happening, at least not for another year or two.

    Modern
*Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (2009-10, 2010-11)
    *Jeopardy! (2008-09 or 2009-10)
A new season of Jeopardy! would indeed be nice, though they'd probably wait until the current one expired. And a later season of Meredith could be good for an afternoon or late night slot. Supermarket Sweep would also be a great acquitision, and Minute to Win It might be worth a shot. Of course, a recent season of Wheel of Fortune would really shake things up, though I'm guessing Sony must be asking for too much, or else they would have gotten it already. The Price is Right is off limits of course, and who knows what's up with Brady LMaD.

If Card Sharks was working in ratings, they would do it. As for the latter two, NO. Combs Feud was responsible for the lowest ratings ever until Hidden Agenda came on. Yes, really. And Woolery Connection was a turd in ratings also.

You want five shows? okay. They need to create versions of these shows:

    1. The Cube
    2. The Chase
    3. The Bank Job
    4. The Exit List
    and 5. Breakaway

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21

I just doubt GSN would pick up any foreign game shows.

5 shows that GSN should acquire in 2012

    Three classic shows:
    Supermarket Sweep
    Shop 'Til You Drop
    Press Your Luck

    Two modern shows:
    Duel
    Minute To Win It

GSN should really try to bring in those shopping game shows. Those two shows were great and I'm shocked GSN hasn't given these shows a try yet. Please GSN, do it.

The poster did say that GSN should create their own versions of them. That said, I don't think they would.

As for the shopping shows; I think they just don't appeal to the main brass (and probably the audience they target).

    How about

    Win Lose Or Draw
    2000's Wheel Of Fortune
    and All-Star Blitz

That's why I said "Adaptations". In other words, create their own versions.

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21

    High Rollers (Trebek or Martindale)

Those two wouldn't work. It would have been smart for GSN to acquire Anderson Feud 10 years ago, but not now. Also, Celebrity Family Feud was only a few episodes, so this would only be a waste of money.

GSN is already creating enough weird reality shows, so I wouldn't want them wasting time and money and weird foreign game shows.

Two Shopping game shows? I wouldn't be surprised if these are hard to get the rights too. They were produced from different companies than Match Game, Password etc.

Jeopardy! should get another GSN season, and at least two versions of Card Sharks should be back soon.

I wouldn't be shocked if GSN tried again. They have shows like The Newlywed Game and Baggage which have been successful. GSN I could see trying Love Connection again.

GSN can not show Wayne's Let's Make A Deal because CBS doesn't want it from what I was told. And they let the other networks show CSI.

  13. #13
Win, Lose or Draw (Convy, Lawrence, and Weller)
    Debt (Martindale)

If any show is proof of the bump GSN can have in it's ratings it's Wheel of Fortune. The marathon they showed after Thanksgiving about two years ago proves ratings will work. Even if it is a modern season. Although an older season in daytime and a newer season in nighttime might be cool.

I'm glad you're not in charge of programming for any network, because you'd drive it into the ground at 170 mph. Here's something you can take to the bank: Every actual "game show" program since 1999 that has been successful has either been a remake of an old show (LMaD, Catch-21, Whammy!, etc.) or... ta-da! a "weird foreign game show" that was adapted (Deal or No Deal, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Weakest Link, Russian Roulette, Friend or Foe, Lingo, etc.). Even Dancing With The Stars was a foreign adaptation of a show from Britain called Strictly Come Dancing. So I guess you can't watch Millionaire anymore since it started out as a "weird foreign game show".

To be fair, I thought Greed got hosed and could have been successful if Fox wasn't a bunch of douches, but the fact is simply this. If you want a show to work, it pretty much has to be an adaptation of a show and it seems the British shows, quite honestly, have us by the short hairs. Fact is: America has zero interest in game shows right now and although GSN should acquire shows like Finn's STYD and Ruprecht's Sweep, they're not going to. They're too busy trying to get their money's worth out of the dead horse known as Dancing With The Stars.

And you sure as (f-bomb) won't get ratings like that with 25 year old surveys and people in their 50s and 60s embarrassed that they had to go on a TV show to try to find love. It didn't work before and it won't work again. If you want to see ratings, new classics and originals are where it's at.

No, I'd be happy to just see the original PYL back on, maybe, NO!

and as for your idea of modern game shows... (F-BOMB) NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! times two.

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21
