    GSN Ratings March 26-April 1

Here are the ratings for GSN the week of March 26-April 1. Harvey Feud takes half of the top 10 slots, with 8 of his 10 slots making the Top 20. DWTS doesn't appear until #133 with 197K viewers, which will probably make many people here thrilled. I'll leave it to everyone else to dissect the ratings and do averages.

    Well, Harvey did very well.

New episodes of Newlywed Game & Baggage are doing good on weekdays. Harvey did well on Wednesday night, I expect those numbers will climb in the coming weeks. I'd like to see Harvey Feud on weekends somewhere, too.

Dancing With The Stars did awful as usual.

    I'll break everything down...
    5:00pm 5th Grader: 240K
Not bad. But, this was before GSN advertised that it was airing at 5pm. We'll see better ratings next week probably.

    10:00am Card Sharks: 215K
Still the best classic of the morning. After rerun abuse, this still does well. GSN should pick up a Perry and Eubanks new lease very soon. Air one version at 9:30am and another version at 11:30am. And, don't repeat it late nights. Then, create a Friday or Saturday nights are doing poorly.

    2:30pm Lingo: 209K
    12:00am Lingo: 204K
We've had the worst rerun abuse on this show ever probably. It still does well. Better than last week, but not as well as a couple nights ago. Don't just look at these numbers. After 5th Grader on Sunday night, we saw 267K and 255K. It still maintains slots in the top 50, and recently the top 20 or so.

    3:30pm Chain Reaction: 204K
Pretty bad for a re-premiere week, and a good time slot. I don't think we'll be seeing any 400K ratings in the near future like in 2011, but I could see a couple 300K-350K slots in the upcoming weeks.

    8:00am Match Game: 140K
    8:30am Match Game: 186K
    9:00am Family Feud: 144K
    11:30am Match Game: 176K
Look at this closely. Match Game: 3 slots a morning, massive rerun abuse. And the earliest GSN slots are doing very well. A year ago, the 8am/9am hour was seeing insanely low numbers like 40K. Dawson isn't doing well at all. Match Game even did better at 8:30am than 11:30am.

    Monday Family Feud: 261K (Karn: 268K O'Hurley: 257K)
With Harvey Feud, we're going to continue to see these numbers drop. Still good numbers this week, but I could see this drop.

    Tuesday The Newlywed Game: 225K
225K is horrific. The Newlywed Game is getting the worst rerun abuse now. The new episodes are doing just "good", but Tuesday nights should feature 3 hours of Sherri, THEN two hours of Jerry (10pm-midnight). Baggage is barely on the GSN schedule now.

Wednesday Family Feud (Harvey): 326K (new: 350K)
I honestly thought this would have done better. The 11pm hour was 175K-like ratings.

Thursday Deal or No Deal: 173K
Surprisingly bad. The block did well the week before. The episodes airing now (early 2006) have been seen tons of time. But, DOND isn't on the schedule a lot now. 1pm weekdays, and 1pm and 2pm Saturdays, midnight Sunday. 8 airings beside the block marathons.

    Friday $100,000 Pyramid: 231K
Badly, but better then last week. Very bad compared to two weeks ago.

    Saturday DWTS (all night): 148K (6pm-11pm: 173K)

    Sunday 5th Grader: 325K
Still good, but the 5pm spot could be slowly killing the show. People are used to just seeing 5th Grader on Sundays, but now that its on 5 more days a week less people will watch Sundays (rerun abuse). The same thing happened to "Millionaire".

    Sherri/Jerry new episodes
    Monday: 342K, 342K
    Tuesday: 210K, 298K

    Wednesday: 337K, 306K
    Thursday: 230K, 296K

    Friday (Sherri): 226K
    Friday (Jerry): 359K
At least these episodes are doing a lot better then the past two weeks. 300K's are good, 400K's are great which I want to see soon, and 200K's, even high 200K's are poor for first episode runs.

GSN needs an injection of different shows. They are running what they have in the ground. They desperately need to lease more shows, be it from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, or new ones. Yes, that may mean leasing stuff that didn't do too well but variety is severely lacking. And who knows, maybe some of the shows that didn't too well will do better. If not, at least for a while you get more variety and less airings of the same shows over and over.

Can they lease some game shows that are from the 1960's?

Only because of wiping and the number of episodes that may exist of them.

A typical week on GSN. Although I would want Sherri and Jerry to do better. The numbers this week are kinda good, but not fantastic. 400K+ is fantastic for new episodes. Same goes with 5th Grader and Harvey Feud.

I'm just going to let the bottom five slots speak for themselves. But here's a surprise. A glut of poor performances by Card Sharks. Six slots in the bottom 14? Pathetic.

I had a feeling that Harvey Feud was going to do well. It falls in line with what the GSN populace has been watching. New classics. Although the one thing I fear is that GSN will eventually turn into the Match Game / Family Feud channel. Looking at these numbers, it appears likely to happen. GSN seems unlikely to let go of their Match Game episodes for whatever reason and Family Feud is doing well for them.

Once the new episodes of Baggage and Sherriwed game are used up, you can expect to see more and more of a glut of Family Feud on the air.

And Dancing With The Stars needs to just plain DIE from this schedule. I don't know who the heck is keeping it on but it needs to waltz on out like 3 weeks ago!

Upcoming Shows: Iron Maiden, Devore, September 13
    Kamelot, Anaheim, September 21

All these bottom 10ish airings you talk about air at 3am in the morning. The Newlywed Game should have done better at 3am, but I expect it to be weak since it just followed a weak show (DWTS). Pick on DWTS Sunday afternoon, but not shows after 3am. And you can't blame Card Sharks for doing badly. It was a 3 and 3:30am!! And GSN will not turn into a Match Game/Family Feud network. Family Feud-Maybe. Match Game-No. GSN cut it down to three slots and should cut the 11:30am slot to (rerun abuse).

I wish Karn were cut down more. It should be cut at 9:30am and they should pick up more Dawson/Combs' Feud. 4 and 4:30pm weekdays does well, so leave it. 1am keep too. The block marathon can stay. And the 3pm-4:30pm slot Saturdays does very well. So right now Karn has 27 slots on the schedule. 5 of those should leave (9:30am) O'Hurley has about 13-17 slots, and Harvey has 10. This could be worse, but good for now.

Oh come on. Perry's version had the best average of any show before 2 PM, and in the previous week it was the best performing show before 4 PM. That's pretty damn good if you ask me. Eubanks doesn't do so hot at 11 AM, but he has to contend with a certain show on CBS.

Harvey had a good debut, doing better than almost everything else this week. He didn't reach the 500K+ numbers that we used to see back when Sherri, Jerry, and Howie were hotter (and Karn and O'Hurley for that matter), but getting 300K+ for almost every airing is pretty damn good for GSN these days, especially in the 7 PM hour where nothing seems to do well anymore. They should just air Harvey in that hour every day. The 11 PM numbers probably weren't as hot because they were same-night repeats.

Basically, another week of the expected. Given that (as has been stated) most of these shows are rerun badly (a good analogy would be that the abuse is akin to driving a car with four worn-out tires and no spare), it's pretty good. As long as they continue this policy, these kinds of numbers are probably as good as it will get.

Exactly. Perry Card Sharks does very well, but when you put a show at 3am everyone's asleep. Perry did well at 10am but you can't expect anything in the 11am hour to do well. With Harvey Feud, I expect it to do better than 350K like numbers. In the next couple weeks, just like 5th Grader we'll probably see 400-500K numbers. The show is also competing with American Idol, which may not be a big of a deal but its #1 on TV.
