I just saw a new promo for classics on GSN when Super Password was coming on. GSN is actually promoting the classics.

Good call. Password Plus probably got underwhelming ratings because people didn't know it was on. Hopefully this will help.
Well, Dancing With The Stars got heavy promo treatment for 3 months now, and look at what's happening now - the show is on the way out.
Makes me wonder why Password Plus is getting lower ratings than back in 2009? Maybe because there's nothing exciting about a show that offered a fixed $5,000 top prize in the Alphabetics round as opposed to Super Password's end game where the jackpot started at $5,000 and increased each time it was not won?
Then again, $25,000 Pyramid is still doing really well, but $25,000 was quite a haul as opposed to $5,000 on Password Plus. I can see why the later Tom Kennedy era episodes of Password Plus were more fun to watch.

Good move, GSN, for finally picking up more Press Your Luck and $ale of the Century!
I prefer old game shows that give $5,000 than these new game shows that offer $1,000,000 or something. I wouldn't mind $1,000,000 (LOL) but I'm just saying, at least those old game shows didn't have drama and stuff. I will try out new game shows though but, just trying to make a point, IMO.
Password Plus ratings were acceptable, but could be better.
No. Not even close.Maybe because there's nothing exciting about a show that offered a fixed $5,000 top prize in the Alphabetics round as opposed to Super Password's end game where the jackpot started at $5,000 and increased each time it was not won?
I liked Tom. But the scoring change really slowed it down.I can see why the later Tom Kennedy era episodes of Password Plus were more fun to watch
By the way, did anyone notice in the promo, I don't think Password Plus or Super Password is included. Just Match Game, Family Feud, Pyramid and Card Sharks (Which doesn't air on here anymore). But don't tell me I was mistaking that for Catch-21 (and it isn't even a classic) but they did add Engvall Lingo in the promo and that isn't a classic. I'll cut Woolery Lingo some slack, it could pass for a classic nowadays. If GSN wanted to make a promo for daytime, they could've just said GSN Daytime, starts at 8am/7c or something. GSN used to have a promo for daytime years ago probably.
The promo also included a clip of the 3rd $100K Pyramid tournament win with Mary Cadorette, which I don't think they have the rights to air (it is from the 1985-1986 season).
Anyway, it was nice to see a new promo for classics. I will give GSN some credit, although it would be nice to see different eps. of Pyramid (either the $100K or $25K version is fine with me), Match Game, and Dawson Feud.
It's good to see GSN doing this, but I would like to see these ads during prime time. As long as they say what time its on too.
Wow. Another move in the right direction for the network! Perhaps things are going to get better!
Dancing is out, new Classics in, an actual Game Show acquisition, and now they're promoting Classics. Something that I would have never believed if someone told me this a few months ago.
GSN made the blockbuster Deal or No Deal acquisition in 2009, followed by the Baggage splash in 2010. The reason the ratings have hit the dumps lately is the lack of big acquisitions and the failure of the most recent originals. Harvey Feud and 5th Grader are the bright spots lately, which indicates GSN should go for the most recent eps available of successful game shows.GSN is making the right moves, and the network has fallen since 2009 but has improved in the past six months, but especially will improve this Saturday night after 1am.
Deal or No Deal was GSN's biggest mistake when it came to ratings, especially right now. If block scheduling goes, DOND does still deserve the 1pm slot, a prime time slots, and then those 5 weekend slots. (Total of 15 slots). Not bad. Keep it that way, or under. Baggage only brought good ratings for GSN in 2010 and 2011. But the new episodes seem to be crashing
In 2009 Deal or No Deal was by far GSN's most successful acquisition since Millionaire six years earlier. Sure, the numbers eventually softened, but Howie carried GSN for a good long time. Just as Baggage's numbers have declined, but in 2010 it was easily GSN's most successful original since High Stakes Poker in 2006.Deal or No Deal was GSN's biggest mistake when it came to ratings, especially right now.
If GSN limited Deal or No Deal to once in early daytime, once in prime time and 5 times on weekends like now, DOND would be getting strong numbers still, because it wouldn't have rerun abuse. This is the way GSN is going with Harvey Feud, increasing from 10 to 24 slots a week.
For Harvey, I do fell like it was smart for GSN to air episodes at 5 and 5:30pm, but the Saturday 5pm hour should be Baggage instead since Sherri airs right before that and Baggage is nearly nowhere on GSN's schedule (14 times a week; 9 of them after midnight)
Which, of course, is unprovable. GSN is a minor niche network. When they get a "hit" (by GSN standards) they have to run with it big time.If GSN limited Deal or No Deal to once in early daytime, once in prime time and 5 times on weekends like now, DOND would be getting strong numbers still, because it wouldn't have rerun abuse.
