That's got nothing to do with why I feel this way. Personally I never thought they were only going to show MG, FF, CS, and Pyramid forever so switching CS out for Password wasn't any major earth shattering thing to me. I'm just of the opinion I'll believe they lease something new when I read it's happened. And let me also state, I do believe one day they will lease something different for ALL their classics. I can't see them continuing to air the same year and a half of MG forever. So, eventually I'll be surprised to discover they have leased more eps but until then I'll believe it's happening "now" when I see it.
For what it's worth I thought I'd pass this info along. I was doing a series scheduling for $25,000 Pyramid through my Directv iPad app and there are two listings for the show. One that ends tomorrow and the other that begins Monday. Maybe there are new leased episodes coming after all.
Thing is, with the passing of a celeb, there always seems to be a market for a show that features him/her. Perhaps GSN is seriously considering showing newer episodes. Guess they may even pick up where they left off from the first run. But any newer ep would be greatly appreciated. Just like a new MG epiosde would be...or Feud etc. 3-4 years of the same is beyond silly.......fingers crossed.
Now BuzzerBlog is reporting on their Facebook that Donny Osmond's Pyramid will air in both of the current $25,000 Pyramid slots. Alex says this is "next week only (for now)", and I hope he's right about that part. I'm all for Donny's version coming back to GSN, but not in place of Dick. So I'd hate to think that these are the "new" episodes coming.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind Donny's version come back, but not in the middle of the daytime block and late nights. Maybe it will only be for a week. There are several other spots on the schedule that they can place Donny's version, like 12pm, for example. I also noticed that on Buzzerblog's Facebook page, Alex did not mention the Friday night block of 25k Pyramid, so maybe that is staying?
Of course, we don't have ratings on how well Donny did during the Dick Clark tribute a few weeks ago, did the show really do that well? Didn't the GSN press release on ratings for the April 16th week say 25,000 Pyramid improved ratings, and didn't mention Donny's version?
Buzzerblog reported on his Twitter account that Dick's $25K Pyramid will still air this Friday night, so it looks like it is staying on Friday night. I wonder what eps will be airing on Friday night; maybe Casey will get updated PDFs soon and we can find out what the story is for the next few weeks.
I don't dislike Osmond's version, but I'd hate to see it replace Clark in daytime; I'm really hoping it's only a one-week thing, but I have a bad feeling. Why would they just randomly air Osmond's Pyramid for one week? Also, like everyone else is saying there are plenty of other underperforming time slots such as noon and 1:00 PM in which they could place Osmond if they really wanted to bring him back. I'm all for seeing Osmond in one of these other time slots.
Let's just hope that Clark stays somewhere on the schedule even if it is only Friday nights.
EDIT: I was just reading Buzzerblog's Facebook, and he said on the PDF schedule for next week the episode numbers for next Friday's $25K Pyramid episodes are still listed as "New." Alex said that he is making an attempt to reach out to GSN for a response as to why the "New" is listed in the episode number slots on the schedule. Hopefully he will get a response, but I doubt it.
I think what they are doing here is limiting 25k Pyramid to Friday nights only, to perhaps get better ratings. So, if you want to watch 25k, you have to watch Friday nights now, no other option. That is my best guess on this. Even though daytime ratings have been solid, and the Friday night numbers have been so-so at best. Don't know if this will work, but we'll see.
Yeah, that seems a little backwards to me. Donny's version would be worth trying on Friday nights if anything, but Dick should stay put at 10:30 AM where he does well. Maybe GSN is still trying to work out a new $25K Pyramid lease with Sony, and have to fall back on Osmond episodes that they might still have the rights to in the meantime. But let's just hope for the best.
