Which version of PYL is better?

1980's version or the Whammy! revival in 2002?

Vote and discuss. I don't know if we've discussed this yet.

I chose the 1980's version, Peter Tomarken was a excellent host and i think the cash winnings / prizes were rather amazing considering it was the 1980's.

This came up on another forum and I was going to create this (too late) I'd have to go with GSN's version. It was more exciting. Though, I still want the 1980's Press Your Luck back on GSN soon. Looking at GSN's ratings for Whammy!, Press Your Luck would be a smart classic acquisition.

Wait! Isn't there supposed to be a fifth choice? Where's Second Chance?

I apologize for that, I did not think to add that one. Of course I've heard of it but was Second Chance at all "popular"?

Second Chance with Jim Peck ran from March 7-July 15, 1977 on ABC daytime.

So it didn't last long if I'm reading that correctly. Maybe that's why I didn't think of it, not to make any excuses but I have heard of it.

    Apples to Oranges.
PYL beats Whammy IMO. The contestants were classier (except Karen who told the Whammy to drop dead). The Whammies weren't the 3D crap and there were no dumb Double Whammy where crap gets thrown on you.
The prizes were better and the host was better than Mr. Game Shows on DVD.

which of course is Todd Newton.

also espnews26 from you, "I need a pool table for dan, a pool table for dan, come on pool table" (LOL!)

I think those changes made the GSN version better. I'm based my vote off the fact that it was an amazing show for GSN at the time, and am not fully thinking this through. The 3D for the GSN Whammy! wasn't the best, but was a better design than the 80's version in my opinion.

To the tune of "Let's go, Flyers," I say "1980s!" The only thing that "Whammy" had that was better was the Big Bank.
