    Unexpected results of Civil War?

Were there any unexpected results of Civil War? Why? If so, what were they? Military, economic, governmental, and racial developments of Civil War. I need help.

After Lincoln's death, the 13th Amendment was passed in order to completely abolish slavery, in contrast to the Emancipation Proclamation, which was powerless to grant freedom to slaves who lived in border states (Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, etc.) and Union states and territories which were controlled by the Confederacy.

While the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments outlawed slavery, defined the credentials of citizenship based on participation in rebellion or insurrection, and gave African-Americans the right to vote, many Southern states passed laws which essentially limited the civic, economic, and political privileges of former slaves by segregated legislation.

As a result, very few job opportunities were open to ex-slaves, leaving them few options: either seeking re-employment with their former masters, shared farms (where they had to share a large-sized portion of their harvests with their landlords), or private residency, hoping that conditions would improve.

Many African-Americans found that they had little to no choice in such matters as: drinking from certain water fountains, attending separate schools and churches, being allowed to sit only in certain seats at restaurants, theaters, etc., or even being denied service in certain businesses.

With Lincoln's death, Andrew Johnson was faced with the challenge of running the country, now that he had ascended from Vice-President to President of the United States.
