Not that this is that important right now but it wouldn't surprise me to see the last minute counted down by him this year by airing maybe a year where he didn't say the outgoing or incoming year or editing the references out and maybe show video of him kissing his wife after midnight. Again, not all that important at the moment but just a thought. I hope someone in the next few days airs a Bandstand marathon too.

I am also a member of a forum devoted to American Top 40, and I learned after I joined the forums last October that Dick Clark sub-hosted for Casey Kasem at some point in the 1970s. I have a contact on that forum that I may get that episode sent to me.

Words cannot express how much we lost, yet again, another legend.

As my own tribute to Mr. Clark, let me share this YouTube link with the channel at large. It's a very rare episode of The Krypton Factor, an American version of which he helmed for five weeks in the summer of 1981... watching this as a kid was what really made me appreciate Mr. Clark's abilities and talents as a host. Apologies for the video quality (it's not my rip), but episodes of this series are so rare that it's hoped the novelty makes up for a poor audiovisual presentation. Enjoy what is, IMO, one of Dick Clark's least-known but most dramatic hosting duties.

I know what I will be doing on Friday night this week - watching $25,000 Pyramid in Mr. Clark's honor.

Obviously you know me from that forum as well. Interesting tidbit for those interested and didn't know. It was Clark and his guest hosted show that changed the way AT40 was recorded. Up until his guest hosted appearance the show was done in real time, meaning the commentary and music were recorded together. Clark halfway through his guest hosted show told them it was hard work and why didn't they record the host and insert it in with the music afterwards. They had never thought of this and a few weeks later that's what they started doing.

And we kind of discussed this very scenario last year. I do believe his guest hosted show will be featured soon on the AT40: The 70s program. Wouldn't surprise me if they did so as soon as next week personally.

Well, (s-bomb). I heard this around 3:45 when my mother got a text on her phone. This sucks.

    RIP, Dick. You'll be missed.

Man he went down hill fast. He was doing great then all of a sudden a couple years ago after the stroke things never seemed to be the same. It's going to be strange watching pyramid this week knowing that he's dead. We should all be praying for his family and friends as they go through this hard time. It's hard enough losing a family member for anybody but they will be having reminders for awhile from the media.

R.I.P., Mr. Clark. New Year's will never be the same without you.

I have a hunch GSN will be doing a weekend tribute marathon of some sorts in the coming weeks. And I wonder if some other network will be airing a marathon of American Bandstand in his memory?
I would agree that there will be tributes all over the place in the coming days and weeks. I would love it if GSN did more than just the standard Friday marathon, as he did so many more shows. They have access to four versions of Pyramid, plus episodes of The Dating Game, Beat the Clock, Hollywood Squares, To Tell the Truth, Pyramid 2002, etc. If Bandstand appeared anywhere, it would probably be VH1 Classic or something. VH1 used to air reruns, but they've moved on to reality fare for the most part. It's never good news when a celebrity passes (or anybody else for that matter), but Dick Clark was a massive part of television, so I bet the tributes will be many.

None of the music channels were even acknowledging his passing. I'd almost expect Bandstand reruns on E before them now.
