Not very. GSN would have to clear a ton of music clearances on the show.

One of my least favorite shows. It is Chuck Barris' version of American Idol(atry). Can tell you if Simon Cowell were on it, the Gong would never stop moving making noise.

Any rip off version of American Idol is stupid, like how we have X Factor and The Voice now

    Smile

I'm sure GSN will acquire the rights to the Don Bleu version.

There was once talk of MTV reviving "Name That Tune" in all new episodes. The same problem...clearances and royalty payments for performances of published songs. Find a big-bucks sponsor willing to shoulder the responsibility and a second network to share production costs and repeat-air the show each week(like Sande Stewart did with PAX--now ION--and GSN for "Hollywood Showdown").

Gong Show could crash on GSN, even though everybody here would like it back. I just don't think it was anything like Password, $100,000 Pyramid that are GSN's classic hits today.

Not true, I was never a big fan of Gong Show. Actually, I preferred that the contestants got gonged -- which is what should be done with the bodies at GSN who have, shall we say, downgraded the schedule in the past five years.

Since DWTS has exited the schedule, I think we've had a schedule upgrade with the addition of Password Plus, Super Password and both of Dick Clark's Pyramids. (25K and 100K)

If GSN can't get Gong Show, I'd like them to pick up a similar show that can be considered modern day: AGT.

I'm afraid that would bomb like DWTS
