    April 9-15, 2012 Ratings

    http://sonofthebronx.blogspot.com/20...9-15-2012.html

5th Grader and Harvey Feud both took the top two spots with over 500,000 viewers.

Harvey Feud not exactly pulling the kind of numbers I imagined but still alright. Jeopardy at 9AM weekends needs to go.

Family Feud (Harvey) may be good on Wednesdays but I can't help but notice, other versions are getting 200K when they used to get 400K. I'm talking about Karn and O'Hurley. Do they still pull good ratings? Because I saw a 4pm or 4:30pm ET airing in the 200K's.

EDIT: I did see a couple of Saturday airings in the 400K's.

The Friday night 25k Pyramid marathon was a disappointment, to say the least.

    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 7:00PM- 7:30PM 0.2 196
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 7:30PM- 8:00PM 0.1 148
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 8:00PM- 8:30PM 0.2 204
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 8:30PM- 9:00PM 0.2 208
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 9:00PM- 9:30PM 0.2 230
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 9:30PM-10:00PM 0.2 195
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 10:00PM-10:30PM 0.1 155
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 10:30PM-11:00PM 0.1 123
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 11:00PM-11:30PM 0.1 154
    $25,000 PYRAMID Fri 11:30PM-12:00AM 0.1 190

Only a few airings over 200k viewers, and the rest under that. I like to see the older shows in primetime, but lets be fair, these are not good numbers. Maybe they could try like Super Password one week if Pyramid doesn't do better for primetime.

At least we can see why they removed 5th Grader from Weekdays at 5pm:

    ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER Mon 5:00PM- 6:00PM 0.1 180
    ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER Tue 5:00PM- 6:00PM 0.2 237
    ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER Wed 5:00PM- 6:00PM 0.1 146
    ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER Thu 5:00PM- 6:00PM 0.2 277
    ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER Fri 5:00PM- 6:00PM 0.1 213

Mostly poor ratings, the only decent one was Thursday. Family Feud should do better.

^ I was going to say, Friday evenings have become a disappointment since The $25,000 Pyramid came back to Friday's. I am just so disappointed. I wish GSN would try some other classics in there because this is disappointing. I can't believe it, myself.

The block schedules seem to be bombing GSN. Get a grip.

Still not as bad as that Sat night 11pm Dancing with the Stars, pulling in a magnificent 76k viewers. Probably barely above a 0.0 rating. Stick 5th grader or Harvey Feud in that spot and it would get 300-400k viewers I'm sure.

I wonder why 25k pyramid did so poorly. Could just be a fluke. But it never really lights up the ratings with 300k+ viewers. I definitely think PW Plus or Super PW would get better ratings Fri night, just because they haven't been seen much over the last few years.

The block scheduling did great for Harvey Feud Wed. 5 of the top 11 shows were from that block. 5th grader Sunday did great as usual too. It's not really the block scheduling that drives the ratings down, it's the shows in the blocks. They're all shows that have been abused and shown over and over and people are tired of them. That's probably why 5th grader and Harvey do well. They're newish to GSN.

I agree with you. I think maybe 25k Pyramid will do better when the next ratings report comes out. It always seems to do well one week, then another week, not as great. But as you said, a Password Plus or Super Password marathon for Friday nights may not be a bad choice to make.

One other thing, in that other thread that talks about GSN perhaps getting "New" 25k Pyramid shows starting May 7, I really don't think that would boost the ratings too much. I mean, I doubt fresh Pyramid shows would do horrible, but lets face it, the average viewers won't be able to tell much of a difference between the different seasons. Its the same game.

So who knows. I think that some people should still be grateful they are even airing older shows in primetime. I remember on the old boards how many posts there used to be about, "why doesn't GSN air classics in primetime"? Well, they are now and people should be glad they are doing that.

    More observations about ratings...

At least we can see why they removed 5th Grader from Weekdays at 5pm:
5th Grader did badly weekdays at 5pm because they were showing episodes that were already cycled through that time of day in January in February in the Friday afternoon slot. If they aired the 2007-08 or 2008-09 season episodes that I suggest and not the 2007 season, then we would have seen better numbers.

    This week's high ratings surprises:
    4:30pm Family Feud: 295K
    3:00pm Whammy: 252K
    3:30pm Chain Reaction: 245K
    10:30am $25,000 Pyramid: 237K
    2:30pm Lingo: 215K
    11:30am Match Game: 211K
*Family Feud usually gets its highest numbers around there, but those were some of the top ratings of the week
*Four of these slots got above or near 300K ratings. That's fantastic for Whammy! which is a ten-year old GSN original
*Chain Reaction still shows its strong numbers
*After being worn down time, the new Lingo, $25,000 Pyramid and Match Game are getting strong numbers still. Lingo (Engvall) airs 12 times a week for the past three months with only 40 episodes. The $25,000 Pyramid numbers at 10:30am are better than its Friday night block.

    This weeks low ratings surprises:
    5:00pm 5th Grader: 211K
    11:00am Super Password: 201K
    10:00am Password Plus: 194K
    12:30pm Lingo: 190K
    12:00pm Lingo: 185K
    9:00am Family Feud: 122K
*5th Grader of course; but once again those were third-run episodes since November
*Super Password and Password Plus I'm excited to see back, but I'm surprised all of there numbers aren't all above 200K. Maybe they would do better back to back in the future.
*Lingo (Woolery) needs a better/later time slot. Noon is too early and it's been bombing there.
*GSN should acquire a new season Dawson Feud before they acquire a new season of Match Game or even $25,000 Pyramid (but that looks like it's happening). Because below 100K ratings in one slot are just poor.

I don't think a new season of Dawson would change things. He's been getting consistently underwhelming ratings ever since they put him at 9 AM, and he's had less rerun abuse than the other classics they showed in the last two years (other than P+/SP). Again, they should have dumped Dawson and kept Perry instead.

I agree that Card Sharks was doing well, and GSN should have kept it on the schedule. Other then the current schedule, I believe the only other times Card Sharks was off the schedule was from late March 2009-April 2010, and the 1997-98 dark period schedules (correct me if I am wrong). Other then that, I think there has always been at least one version of Card Sharks on, even if it was only on weekends like in 2004.

I have a feeling that Dawson won't be disappearing at any point unless GSN drops the Goodson/Todman stuff. Since day one GSN has aired his versions of the show, and like Match Game, it's too well-known to not be scheduled.

If a new season of Dawson were aired at a later time in the morning, we would occasionally see 300K ratings for the new episodes.
