GSN announces earlier premiere date for American Bible Challenge

On Twitter and on American Bible Challenge's web page, the approximate premiere date of "American Bible Challenge" will now be this Summer, instead of originally the Fall. GSN must have high hopes and really liked the pilot for this. With no word yet of GSN's other greenlight series, The Newlywed Game, and nothing mentioned about a premiere date of The $100,000 Pyramid, GSN is getting a jump start with Foxworthy's new show

Really? They decided to make it early instead of fall season? That's great. Now all we need is "Real Life Games" and we're set.
Past Videogame Marathon champions: Michelle Wie, Rob Cesternino, Marie Digby, Quentin "Rampage" Jackson and ijustine.

It's still a game show, and not a reality show. I'll give them credit for that.

There goes their original plan. DWTS would hold them over til the Fall/Winter and then they would introduce the new shows. Since that plan is CRAP, I guess now their new plan is to run Family Feud into the ground into the Summer, introduce Bible show and then run Family Feud into the ground again.

No surprises; this is standard GSN operating procedure. I agree with espnews26 that is directly a result of Dancing bombing as badly as it did.

Family Feud should be cut back massively now airing 88 times a week (all 4 versions), but GSN is seeing huge numbers with this, and I say let it be. There's not too much complaining at all. I'm complaining a little, but not too much as DWTS overload.

GSN planning to premiere American Bible Challenge earlier is a good sign, but goes against what they said at the beginning of the year. Buzzerblog sent out news in January saying "GSN is not planning any original programming until the fourth quarter of 2012".

    Well, that didn't happen.

What about the upfronts from earlier in the year?

Plans can change; that's why they didn't set a firm date for its premiere. Seeing as though there's nothing really exciting (or crunch-worthy) about the current lineup (at least from the leadership's perspective), pushing this up became necessary.

Those were mainly just plans for the future with no set date for a premiere, or even getting a series at all. The Bible Challenge had a pilot already announced before those upfronts.

Though if most of those ideas from the upfronts do come to fruition, it will probably spell the beginning of the end for them.

I doubt GSN will try all five of the reality shows, but in the future there is a 100% chance of American Bible Challenge and the green lit series, and with the success of the $25,000 Pyramid (despite Friday nights) I think we should see a new $100,000 Pyramid be the end of 2012.

The only concern I have about ABC -- no pun intended -- is that I hope it won't be relying upon the "charity" factor as a pull-in for good ratings. I'm not a big fan of game shows where celebrities play for charity, and American Bible Challenge sounds a bit like that, with this line "...winning contestants will receive money towards their faith communities." ABC, the network, tried this concept last fall with their lowest-rated new game show of all-time, You Deserve It. And as we all saw, You Deserve It deserved the low ratings it got. In spite of that, ABC still ran commercials for a casting call towards a 2nd season. Go figure.

Because You Deserve It was 10 times worse than this sounds. GSN is not going to have a webcam set up with somebody watching (the person who "deserved" it) I know what you're saying, but by all means this won't be GSN's worst original of all time
