Watching tonight's 6-hour block of Family Feud, and then looking at the pdf's, I can't believe how GSN has scheduled these Family Feud episodes. It's one thing if they're repeating 5 and 5:30pm episodes of Family Feud (Harvey) weeknights, and then again at 11 and 11:30pm. But, here's how a typical Monday and Saturday night schedule works for Family Feud...

Saturdays (6pm-11pm)
Mondays (7pm-12am; soon to change)

Hour 1: Family Feud (Karn)
Hour 2: Family Feud (O'Hurley)
Hour 3: Family Feud (O'Hurley)
Hour 4: Family Feud (Karn) SAME EPISODES AS HOUR 1
Hour 5: Family Feud (O'Hurley) SAME EPISODES AS HOUR 2

This is the first time I am really complaining about rerun abuse on GSN. If I see the same episode of a classic in a year, that's fine. If I see a new episode of Baggage at 6:30pm and then again at 9:30pm, that's fine. But the same-run episodes of Family Feud within THREE HOURS. Now I can see why the Monday night Karn/O'Hurley block is doing as poorly as it is.

My god, I mean Family Feud is my favorite game show on GSN but GSN should give it a rest. It's overload. GSN should really consider canning the block schedules. I keep saying that.

GSN keeps me away every weekend just about. Way to go, GSN. I wonder how you guys even stay on the air? (Okay now I'm sounding like someone else) but it's true. They should thank online gaming mainly.

No matter what it's better than DWTS, but we're not going to get higher ratings with repeats of Family Feud in one night. If I were GSN, I would cut many slots of Family Feud from 88 to I could imagine 65.

This is exactly why I stopped recording Match Game in the mornings -- only instead of having the same episode two or six times a day, it's just a small range of shows where I know most of them by heart.

I think this has been mentioned before. The same thing happened with Card Sharks. You can look at the beginning of the episode and look at the contestants, and then turn it off because we know what happened.

Although there's a difference. Card Sharks got impressive 200-300K+ ratings at 10am. Match Game, which has had worst rerun abuse, gets 100-200K in the 8am hour, and then an average of 150-225K at 11:30am. Still half way impressive numbers

I agree. It is better than Dancing with the Stars. Family Feud is one of my favorite game shows as I keep saying, great show and fun to play along with but still, it's overkill.

All the shows beat DWTS anyday on Sundays even if you air the same episode 5 times in a row. I still think about Family Feud as "it's 4 different versions so it has permission be on 88 times a week", but at the same time it's still the same show, and is going to get repetitive soon

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon so, I posted about Rerun abuse and some Classic chit chat from me. On My Blog.

I read your blog and you made good points. But I doubt GSN is going to give Catch 21 a new season at this point. But, it still does well in runs at 2:00pm, but they keep showing the same season. But as I saw the enormous amount of Family Feud and block scheduling needs to go (at this point I would want block scheduling cut down to 2-3 hours)

5th Grader gets a similar treatment on Sundays. The 6pm episode is replayed at 9pm (3 hours later). In the other thread, Harvey Feud on Wednesday gets replayed 3 hours later as well, except for some odd reason, the 10:30pm ratings are higher then those of 7:30pm by about 100k. Must be the 1st-run WoF/J factor.

Then with Harvey Feud the 11pm hour lowers. But, leave the Wednesday night cycles the way they are. But I don't like what's going on with 5th Grader. The same episode three hours later is insane. They should have some of last week's episodes at 6 and 7pm, and then new ones at 8, 9 and 10pm like it used to be from December-a couple weeks ago, then they changed it.

*Also, new runs of 5th Grader will end in a few weeks, since they are running out of episodes.

I agree there, I was just suggesting that GSN should make a new season of Catch 21. I like watching the game show but, it gets tiring with the same season.
