Why can't weekend schedules be unique?

There was a time when the weekend schedules aired mostly different programming, in comparison to the weekday schedules.

Why can't we have that anymore?

Keep the schedule the same Mondays to Fridays, then have Saturdays and Sundays follow a different schedule. Game Shows like Catch 21, That's the Question, Greed, Weakest Link, Millionaire, etc. could each take up 1 slot on Saturdays and 1 slot on Sundays, either in the afternoons or evenings, instead of being shoved to the "past 1 am" time frame. That way, they wouldn't get re-run abused, but at the same time, they wouldn't be aired so late at night that most people are asleep by the time they come on.

And let's not forget that it would cut back the massive overkill of Family Feud that's going on right now, regardless of which version it is.

This is completely right. This would be a good chance for GSN to air old originals (like Camouflage, 1 vs 100) that didn't have too many episodes, and air them there. To me, the weekend 9am-12pm schedule isn't bad (despite The Newlywed Game season 4 abuse), and then classics like $25,000 Pyramid and Card Sharks from 12-2pm, and then old GSN originals ones that air and don't air now from 2-4pm (Lingo (Woolery, 1 vs. 100, Catch 21, Camouflage, Syndicated DOND), then Family Feud, Baggage, The Newlywed Game, 5th Grader and Deal or No Deal from 4pm-Midnight.

I also think both the Saturday and Sunday schedule should be close to the same. Here's what I would do with both days with the late afternoon/night time shows I listed above.

    4:00pm: The Newlywed Game
    4:30pm: Baggage
    5:00pm: Family Feud (Harvey)
    5:30pm: Family Feud (Harvey)
    6:00pm: Family Feud (Karn)
    6:30pm: Family Feud (Karn)
    7:00pm: Family Feud (O'Hurley)
    7:30pm: Family Feud (O'Hurley)
    8:00pm: 5th Grader
    9:00pm: 5th Grader
    10:00pm: 5th Grader
    11:00pm: Deal or No Deal

...something like that. It's not my best schedule

GSN right now doesn't follow a uniform type schedule. If they did then P+ and SP would air on weekends. IMO, they should. If they were looking for something unique on the weekends, go with some sort of Originals block late night Saturdays from 1am-3am or 1am-4am. They could air shows like the underrated Without Prejudice IMO.

I kept saying GSN should make the best out of Family Feud on Saturday afternoons instead of TWO hours of The Newlywed Game (one would do better), then a Password Plus/Super Password block Saturday nights for 4 hours or so, and $25,000 Pyramid Fridays.

Yeah, I like Million Dollar Password and some of those other shows like that but they should go. It's rerun abuse. If GSN can, they should make new episodes. I don't have a reason to watch GSN on weekends anymore. Not since they crapped it up.
Sad to see GSN Forums is about to go? Don't Fret! Check out GSNChatters An Unofficial GSN Forum, see what you think, and register.

Once these boards go, for Message Board Games on Weekends, for FUN, check out the new forum and register. Friday - Sunday Message Board Games (MBGFF)

Million Dollar Password is too much for GSN. A show like $100,000 Pyramid is enough for GSN, which should be coming soon

I remember when Match Game was on at 6:30 every evening, and the shows would continue right through. It took me a few weeks to realize that what I saw on Monday was not the show right after Friday, but that Saturday's show would be next in the sequence, then Sunday's program, then Monday's episode. That was not the best way of running things. As for this point in time, different programs on weekends would be better -- that's game shows, not reality junk.

Those would have been the good days for GSN...but that was probably about five years ago. Now in that spot is either The Newlywed Game or Baggage(ugh, what a change).

GSN currently airs 17 shows. The weekends only have 12 shows over the course of 48 hours (Jeopardy!, Whammy!, Chain Reaction, The Newlywed Game, 1 vs. 100, Deal or No Deal, Million Dollar Password, Family Feud, 5th Grader, Baggage, Catch 21, WWTBA Millionaire). So in this case minus the four classics and Lingo.
