    Whammy Question?

My dad and I were discussing Whammy The All New Press Your Luck today and I have a question about Whammy that has always haunted my mind since I began seeing it every morning. When a contestant on Whammy controls the Big Board can the contestant just hit the buzzer without saying "Stop" or does the Big Board have a microphone that the contestant talks into that tells him/her to say "Stop" when a prize appears.,
Please answer this question for me,
    Vinnie

They don't have to say stop. Many contestants on Whammy! never actually said stop.

That's a good question. I've seen people who haven't said "Stop" and just hit the buzzer so, I guess that's okay. It should be anyways.

I've noticed this too. All they have today is hit the Buzzer, and within reason they could shout anything else out.

They just hit the button. Todd Newton was the only one to say STOP but, it was irrelevant since the board had been stopped.

I don't believe Todd Newton ever really said stop. It would be hard for him to time it every single time. You just had to press the button

As far as I know, Todd never pressed a button to stop the board.

I was always hoping on the original PYL that someone would shout "Go" instead of "Stop," just to see what would happen.

No, but he did say "STOP on......." when the board stopped. I never said he pressed a button to physically stop the board.

I knew Todd never said "STOP" or pressed a button, I was talking about the contestants.

I believe that hitting the button is what actually stops the board. The players yell "Stop" to help Peter or Todd know what the player is doing since the host is looking at the board and not the player hitting the button.

I'd say that. There definitely isn't a big microphone/sound system like that. Such technology didn't exist WAAAAAAAAAAAAY back then in 2002
